I do agree, this new age rap is pure shit. I **** it when I see people who dress like they are thugs in good old suburbia, the culture has definitely contributed to the amount of wangster and trash out there.

I also blame it for the bling chrome rim thing that's been plaguing the roads for the last 10+ years.

Has the great wheel fitment of shakotan, but the rest of the car isn't extreme like other shakotan cars. This is the earliest example I could find that will still break necks today, while being 20+ years old.

Pic from the early 90's late 80's apparently.

It's been around for much much longer than the blingy bigger is better chrome thing.

I believe that modern stance culture is a mix of the VW culture and japanese styling(shakotan, bosozoku, VIP). I also believe it is way more influenced by Japanese styling much more than the VW culture.

jmotley is a stupid, racist imbecile that has absolutely no idea on the origins of any automotive 'scene' or 'movement'.

                      Withers is on the money.

Kinda sorta the slammed cars with low offset wheels thing started in japan in the 70's era with the zokusha, kiado racer crowd of the time, they didnt have the tuning parts, camber plates, the internet and modern day stuff like we got now. So when they lowered there cars and those cars were IRS its just cambered in that way (Oni-Kyan). When I was a kid in the early 80's most of the cars I saw going to datsun and toyota meets and shows with my dad had low offset wheels and were low on cut springs or lowering springs. Looked just like cars we see now. Everybody were i lived either had BBS rs's, Work euro lines, Compo's. Enkie 92's or SSR wheels on there cars. I bought my first set of bbs rs wheels for $200 in 1995 when I first started driving my EF civic wagon I also bout at the time for around $700 with 75k in milage. If i owned that car still I could make a killing off it. So I laugh kinda today when I see all these kids acting like they changing the game or whatev's doing the same thing people been doing to the older cars from 30 or more years ago. Iven most mini truck guys had some sort of deepdish wheel on there truck. Every person I see sell these old wheels for more than $1000, I kinda go o hell naw. That saying history repeats itself comes to mind. Or what is old is new and whats new is old

IMO you couldn't make a killing off of your civic wagon. You could probably sell it for 3-4k MAYBE now days. I had a wagon (previous s/n was black_89gt if you want to find it) and the hype is up but on them but the price is still low.

                                God this thread goes on...

Own your car, love it, build it in the direction which YOU think makes it look better.

Think of it like your girlfriend, don't dye her hair a stupid colour to make her stand out... Make her do squats, cost damn, that will definitely make her hotter.
