Never liked 'scenes' in general I was even weary of joining S/W just because there's always clicks and groups and its just like being transferred to a different school because everybody wants to fuck with you because they know your new and don't know your way around or know anybody. I find that just hanging out with actual friends and not fitting into scenes is the best way to go

I dont think there are problems with the "scenes" themselves, just some of the people who are in them, Ive met plenty of vw guys who buy all their own stuff and do their own work. I just cant stand the people when you go to a meet or show and they have these nice, new cars with a ridiculous set up that you know they could not afford and they come up to your car and try to talk to you like they know whats going on, however in reality they only know how to read the receipts or dyno sheet. I find that the most pathetic thing in car scenes and have no respect for them, I dont care how nice the car is, if you barely know whats in your own car or you had mommy and daddy fund it for you, doesnt earn my respect. Plus you really dont appreciate the car if youre not buying the parts or picking the car you wanna build.

And the thing with the scenes shouldnt matter, you shouldnt make a car based on a scene, you should build a car the way you want to and with what you think is cool and based off your own style.

Time to rant. BMW scene sucks. Bunch of rich kids. It reminds me of vw scene but the kids think they are cooler because their parents bought them a new BMW and paid to have it straight piped. When I was at bimmerfest, my girlfriend was like "this is worse than east coast Honda meet, that at least had interesting cars" . Totally agreed

I went with a group of friends to the ECHM in 2011. It was actually a really good turnout, tons of non-hondas and met a lot of cool people. It was funny how J Wolfe stole the show with his stock integra ls on volk wheels and cut springs/blown struts haha
