    Thanks!

I'm hoping I can bring some more width to the rear soon. Have to send a few emails and see what I can do.

After doing some research into a brake upgrade up front, it doesn't look like I can get a 2 pot Wilwood setup for the front as they aren't available for a Type 3 application. This sucks a little but means I can focus on something else.

      Which will be the engine.

          Cheers mate!
Living in Australia and doing what we want to do don't mix very well.

Booked in Anja for a wheel alignment for bright and early on Saturday.
Hopefully that'll resolve the pulling to the left issue.

Tonight I'm going to finish off splitting the 15" RS' after I go and grab a rattle gun and the necessary sockets. Then I might test fit the 16" RS' that I had on Zelda and see what offsets I can run with them. That'll at least get me an idea of what I can run the 15's as.

Might grab an engine stand over the weekend as well and drop the engine next week to inspect the oil leak and see whether or not it is an easy fix or if it is going to be new engine time sooner than expected.

Test fitted the 16's I had on Zelda.

16x8.5j +10.95 fit like this on Anja.
            2" lip and 6" barrel.

            IMG_0798 by sebastienpeek, on Flickr

So now, thanks to my nifty offset calculator I built (because nerd life), I played with a few ideas for the 15's.

Original wheels are 15x6.5j +17. 1" lip, 5" barrel. So I worked out the following...
            1.5" lip and a 5" barrel would make them +10.65. (7j)
            1.5" lip and a 6" barrel would make them +23.35. (8j)

The problem that I foresee is the amount of lip at the rear. I easily stuffed 2" lips with the 16's up the front, but at the rear it'll be a lot more difficult. So, I might have to stay with a 1" lip all round. That being the case.

            1" lip and a 6" barrel would make them +29.7. (7.5j)

But in saying that, when I get the rear brake setup all installed, I will be able to test fit the rears as well. I need to get the 15" centres bored out for 14mm studs.

Car is currently getting a wheel alignment and the front wheels re-balanced.
Once the wheel alignment is sorted, going to go and grab a rattle gun so I can get the drum brakes off the transaxles that they're stuck too during next week some time.

I need to decide which way I want to take Anja. A part of me wants to go full race wagon on her ass, the other, sensible daily driver. I know which part is winning currently.

              Race wagon setup.
Fixed back Brides, stripped interior, roll cage, spastic engine (read: type 4 2.8l), rear end shortened and tubbed. RS' built out to wild specs, front end shortened, so would run 9's or 10's all round. I could see this getting way out of hand very quickly. I'd love to run a Porsche G50 (upgraded: LSD, heavy duty clutch) box too, one can dream, right? Jägermeister orange and livery.

              Sensible daily setup.
Fixed back Brides, mild engine (read: type 1/3 2.0l), legal wheel setup (RS' built to 7.5j all round), painted factory colour, roof racks and interior all original.

Ohgawd. It has started again. And it feels fucking fantastic.

                Bad news.
Front beam is fucked. Tie rods are seized. 1.5° of camber on front left, 0° on front right. Which means always pulling to the left. Great. So now I need to get a beam.

                Good news.
Might be able to get a spare parts Squareback so I can get the front beam out of that. Might being the key word. I also finally finished off splitting the RS' and took a few photos of her parked out the front.

                Original parts left over.

The next hurdle is getting the 12mm stud holes accepting 14mm studs. Off to a work shop for that.

                IMG_0806 by sebastienpeek, on Flickr

And some updated photos of her with the new shonky looking wheel setup. I **** her looking like this, she needs paint. But now she needs a new front end and an engine as well. Great.

Why do you need a new beam? Just get new tie rods

Would replacing just the tie rods fix the camber issue? If it does, I'm all up for just having to replace tie rods!

Really enjoying this man! Love how you're not just doing dodgy mods but instead fixing the wrongs that had previously been done.

Going to be pretty impressive. Not sure if you've mentioned before but what colour will this end up being? IMO, a nice white, maybe Championship White would look mint with polished RS's.

Yeah, unfortunately I found another few dodgy things but such is life. I'll have to sort out the fuse box as soon as I can now that you remind me, oh, and the sound system is wired in dodgy amongst other things...

I'm wanting to keep it the original colour (Grasshopper Green) and do the them black centres with polished lips. We will see what happens though!

                              Sounds nice and subtle

Cool that you're sorting out wiring issues as well. I have to do a bit of that myself, not looking forward to it at all, one of the worst parts of modifying cars when you don't know your way around it and unfortunately, I don't really know my way around it. :P

Replacing the tie rod will just fix what you said was seized and easier to align

Your camber is adjusted by rotating ball joints. Beam should be fine.

feel free to message me with any questions you might have man.
