And when looking at my suspension on my w108 i noticed that the front end sits on the bumpstops and thats just with my static drop. You definitly got to cut those down. The bag could be moving around from not getting any pressure from the weight of the car and its gonna sit lower without the bumpstops in there.
And for anyone who wants to know the size of the cup. I took a couple rough measurements last night and its about 4-4.5" cups on top and about 3-3.5" cups for the bottom. this isn't exact but the cup measurements are about close enough for you to get the idea. D&W should be able to give you exact measuremets of his cups if his installer hooks him up with the cup lengths.
hey man, yea i have the bumpstops out of the front now and its a little lower... I might cut em down in the rear also. I can take photo's now I finally have the car back in my hands but im out of town so might have to be next weekend sorry... feels like its been ages since ive had a weekend to be with the car.

I have airhouse 2 bags front and back... brackets appear to be same width as the end plate of the bags, I should be able to get rough measurements of cup lengths also.

rides SO much better with shocks in front so do not remove them. you can get brand new bilsteins for these cars for about $60 each corner - so worth it

rear brackets are welded to bottom spring perch now also, which simply unbolt if I ever want to go back to springs

will get some fresh pics and photo's of brackets by next weekend. cheers, ed

      • I bought my 74 240 for 100$. I used it as a winter Chicago car, solid great driving car. I never lowered it since I only used it when I didn't want my E28 or MKI GTI getting trashed downtown by a snowplow. I loved that car, seeing yours makes me want another.

        Keep it up!

good strategy. tell her my girl loves driving this car... considering they are so old, they handle and drive much like a modern car. i've been made to promise i will never sell this car she likes it so much "even if we break up one day. pls promise me you wont sell that car" haha

              • D&w let me know when you get those cup lengths. I should be starting my build pretty soon. I decided on going manual valves. Its basic, reliable, and seemed sorta era correct to me for the car. Im super excited to get this done!

gotta know people who work at the dmv . seriously though, theres one ratrod forum i browse sometimes and it has an entire section dedicated to ways that you can get your car registered.

haha yea I have to make numerous point turns everywhere, and the engine cradle is just about on the ground. Im shooting for rockers on the ground when I dive into my air project, going to be cutting a lot out haha.

stoked yours came together well man! so into it!

hah nice, yea i figured you would have a very very large turning circle. You will love air.

As far as I know a w108 has never been put onto rockers before so you would be the 1st.

I'm going to pull my bumpstops out or cut them in half in the next week or so too I think

I need to some good jack stands and a jack. Can't do anything with the widow maker jack it comes with haha
