totally, the Mercedes Cenz classic center (where they restore old benz' and supply parts etc) is about 30 mins from me in SD so all the parts arrive pretty much next day. i used to live in melbs for 25 years! been in the states 2 years now and this has been a fun project over here.

        • Live in SD and don't have a kill switch or lojack...

Cutting it close buddy, especially with a nice car like this. The border is only a few miles south and any car is a target.

My friend had his b20 teggy stolen a year ago in SD, and one thing he regrets is not having a measure to stop them. He thought that no one would want a car like his until it was too late.

Never really thought of it to be honest. might not be a bad idea. LoJak is expensive, is it legit or a scam?

Its really not a big surprise at all that your buddies "b20 teggy" got stolen in San Diego county as Hondas, Toyotas, & Nissans are the most popular stolen cars in this area...... I dont know why on earth anyone who lives here for any amount of time and owns a rice rocket would believe that no one would want their car when you hear on the news and see the crime stats for the region you must know that they are the most popular stolen cars here. Especially an engine swapped one.

                        • More a list for me to remember what was done and needs to be done as much as to keep this updated

                          Just done

1/ Front Airhouse 2 bags were swapped out for SS re-5 bags as they are a bit slimmer, allows more clearance and should eliminate the rubbing problem I was having
2/ Front door was re-welded where door check attaches as metal was stressed and door check was pulling away from door

Things to do for the next couple months

1/ Install windshield washer foot pump and connect up. Thanks to buddy Dan for this part
2/ Body points and fittings due for annual greasing
3/ Troubleshoot in-op power window in rear
4/ Paint is due for claybar etc and interior detail
5/ Fix in-op odometer (if I think it's worth shelling out some $ to fix)

If I understand what you are saying, I think I have the same issue. The little piece that keeps the door from swinging open too far has come detached inside the b-pillar in my car. What was welded to fix this?

My odometer doesn't work either, I am way too scared to take it apart and fix it myself but I hear these guys do great work - http://www.paspeedo.com/
