    • So where were we . Oh yes. More bodyshop work done.

Let me put things in order. These days have mostly been about sanding and checking, sanding and then checking again, to achieve the perfect finish.
Both for the eye, but mostly for the hand.

      Getting there

minimum amount of filler used, due to great bodywork, and I am very happy about that

      Car prepped for primer

      Now where did that fuel cap go . . . seriously . . .

      I know it was here somewhere . . .

      Nope, nowhere

      Doors were also prepped

      And primered

      Ready for paint tomorrow

Given the chance, I decided to clean all the locking systems of the car

      Rear ones

      50:50

Happy with how they turned out like new

      More to come tomorrow

      Cheers

      Mike

        • Some more progress from today .

It was mostly about final prepping of the body for paint, and painting the doors. in between I found the time to tackle some other little things, that needed my attention.

Like this. The IC. Which was tired looking

Here is a kind of 50:50 I did while cleaning it

I also cleaned the Mocal Oil Cooler

          Good to go

Now, like I said, doors were painted

          Here they are

Now where did that mark of their widening go . . .

          Nope

          Cant see it

Doors outside the paint booth - Yummy . . .

Now another thing I wanted to do was the following. Let me guide you through the photos

Removed the wheels - the Audi and the VW one

Leaving the car like this for a while

          Before

          During

          And finally, afterwards, wrinkled/textured black

I know it is someone, no one will even know, or notice, however I am very glad it came out that way

I also started bolting parts on the car parts, getting ready for things to come

Sneaky pic of bumper with grille

Cheers, more to come tomorrow, hopefully, more paint.

              • The devil is always in the details, and for that my friend you're the most evil ]
It's true not everyone will notice, but those that will, will appreciate the build even more, like many of us here.

As you mentioned the work on the door is amazing, it's pretty crazy that you can't see much of what's been done to get them to work so well with the body

                    • So, some more things done here and there, but mostly getting ready for the chassis painting.

Installed the new RS4 lip on the RS4 freshly painted bumper.

                      Used these oem plastic-bolt-clips

                      Bolted in place

                      Such a good-looking combo

Car got out of its parking spot for a ride

Where to you little FWD drag car ?

                      Oh that's where you were going . . .

                      To the booth

To give you a hint for the size of this paint booth, I can show you these pics

Seam sealer was applied where needed

And the inner parts were painted prior to the chassis painting

Then car was masked for painting

                      Clean job

                      More, tomorrow

                      Cheers

                        • Chassis is painted, and " W O W ", is all I have to say for the final result I saw in person.
Pictures dont it justice by any means, even without any rotary work on the colour at all .

Some first pictures from this morning.

Everything started very early to have a nice cool temp, due to being very warm these days in Greece.

                          Mixing stuff

                          Ready for unmasking

The artist is happy himself as well

In the middle of the B-Pillar the painting stopped.

Do you see any sign of it ?

                          Look closer

Such a nice technique. You can see it in the videos to follow

                          Outside the booth

                          For the assembly to begin

Or, maybe, it has already started.

                          More to come, cheers guys

And here is the video of the second clear coat of the chassis. It is really interesting to see the technique used for the colour fade-out on the part not painted

Hope you liked them. I am really happy the painter let me take those videos.
