  • Mercedes W210 Wagon / Estate

Hey guys. My name is Francisco and i own a 1999 Mercedes E320 Wagon.

After i sold my 92 cb7 (which i miss dearly) I was on the hunt here in Vegas for a Wagon and i found it! This is what it looked like around May 2011:

It had a major tranny leak from a loose torx bolt from the previous owner, so i had to buy plenty of ATF until i built up the courage to do so. i also bought a flat hood badge because i didnt want anything on the hood and i replacement mirror for the drivers side because it was broken.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    March 2012:

took out the transmission and replaced several things like the front pump seal trans gasket, filer, etc etc. Altogether it would have taken 2 days. The tedious part was waiting for the parts. in a nutshell, this is how the leak looked. The red being the ATF

Those two little suckers were the reason and they couldnt be reached from the hole. It was a PITA to get the TC locked in before bolted it onto the flywheel. Thank god this was over.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Sept 2012:

Fast forward to now where i am finally going to work. I pieced together some susp. parts

    Bilstein Sport Shocks

    H&R Springs

    #1 and #2 Spring Pads

    OEM LCA bushings

Front and Rear Sway bar bushings and links

    18x8 +38 Enkei Aegis 2 Piece 5x112 rims

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    November 2012:

lol they spelled "prevent" with an R at the end. added these in the rear. Good 20 bux.

Faces were done Satin Silver at Snail Motorsports N. Las Vegas! Good stuff

    Thanks for looking

And i apologize for the crappy iphone pictures....

Thanks for the love fellas . I also forgot to mention i am piecing together a air ride kit for the car. So far i got the compressor which is a viair 480c 100% duty cycle with water trap. 4 tapered bags from bag riders and a 5 gallon air tank.

I need to figure out if i should run 8 seperate valves vs a valve manifold so i can go FBSS.

I can already tell this is going to be good. Will this be at wuste in june ? And not to nit pick your build apart but are you sure that the tapered bags from bag riders are going to be able to lift your car appropriately up front? I was told, and mind you my W202 is slightly smaller and lighter. that the tapered sleeve bags , and the firestone sleeve bags that they carry are cutting it VERY close in terms of how much load they can take. I was informed by others who have bagged older mercs and thru emails with bagriders that on our cars or the type of suspension that these older mercs have that it is better to go double bellow. Such as the re5 or ss5 front and rear. You get a higher PSI rating on the bag and it has a higher load rating. Just some food for thought. plus I know that the double bellow bags have a smaller compressed height so that means. MOAR LOW!

I like that you did your own transmission work! Not many MB owners would do this. Looking forward to the after pictures.

Thanks for the concern man i appreciate your opinons. I tried contacting mr "sideways asian" about his w210 sedan air ride setup but came unfruitful. I used context clues from his for sale thread and found out that he got his setup from bag riders which were 4 tapered bags from airlift company. I contacted John from Bagriders and he told me with the amount of contact around the spring (1 inch from front/rear shock and 1inch from frame) the best selection would be firestone 7076 or tapered bags.

BUT.. he also said with the firestones the may be an issue with rubbing inside the bags when deflated thats which leads me to my choice of tapered bags. I will need to make some brackets to compensate for the stubbyness of the spring :P.

Unfortuately i am just stationed out here in las vegas til May 2013. Afterwards im heading back to Chicago and hopefully go to school full time. So im usure if i would be able to make it to wuste .

Yeah man, i just **** how all the purists (mainly from MBworld or Benzworld) discourage many people from doing their own work. "if you overtighten this" or "if you dont clean that" your car will fall apart.

For the most part, taking out this tranny was easier than my honda accord or my buddy's 01 legacy. Just keep your area clean, remember where the bolts go up to, use a torque wrench and its just like any other car.

nothing major happened recently only because im separating from the military in a few months so times are tough and money needs to be saved.

                      Although......

Was fed up with the lack of technology in my car so i upgraded the sound system to a Kenwood Headunit.. Has BT and AUX but no cd player since cds are now dead tech. Ill post pictures of that once its installed. Here are some removal photos...

And i got these rims put together finally. I wish the polish on the barrels were better but this will have to do for now.
