So the swap is done. Finally.
Just had to put the 4spd standard steering column in and hook up the shift linkage.
After getting everything all hooked up, and bleeding the clutch master and slave cylinders, everything worked flawlessly. Clutch, all gears, the shift linkage etc.
Obviously now that I've been in and under the dash, there are electrical gremlins I have to chase down. Parking lights are on full time now and the headlights aren't working (which were before the swap)
So tomorrow's plan is to square all of that away, register it, and drive her!Last edited by foxtrot wagon; 08-19-2012, 10:35 PM.The Governors Club.

Today I drove her down the road for the first time. Shifted smooth, clutch felt good, went down the road awesome.
Being behind the wheel of this car going down the road is amazing, driving my 1969 felt awesome, but this one has a character all it's own, and I have already fallen in love with it.
We took a video of us heading down the road in her, I'll have to upload it tomorrow or something.
For now, I just took a couple of her outside the garage for the first time in a week.
A week isn't so bad for the amount of work that has been done in the amount of time per day we got in on it.
Bags came in today, fun stuff happening soon. The Governors Club.

I picked up what Im putting my tank, compressor, valves etc in today.
I want everything inside so when you open the trunk to the car, it's nothing but the old trunk chest, and the original 0 mileage bias ply spare tire in there.
It's coming together just the way I want it to, and I'm pretty happy so far.

Also, here is another look at the original Hydrak transmission that was in the brown tail,
The "auto clutch" coupler which acts like a torque converter, holds ATF fluid, self contained and fits inside the bell housing.
The transmission itself still holds gear oil.
So it still has a pressure plate and everything... on the back side of an outer space-designed "automatic clutch coupler" haha. Wild. The Governors Club.
