Long time since last update.
The car has been off the road for a little while in my gararge,

With no point in selling it as its worth nothing and no desire to drive it I was a bit unsure what to do with it, came close to breaking it.
The fact of the matter is this- its performance doesnt match its looks. The only option is a 944 turbo, but to buy one in this condition and colour would be 5-6k. Problem here is that if I had 5-6k I wouldnt buy a 944 turbo.
So.. engine transplant? the best deals ive seen are £1400 to 1800 for an engine pack on a pallet - no thanks.
But don't forget the 2.5 n/a is the engine the turbo was based on, so how hard can it be to "boost" it?
I bought this collection of parts to kick things off. Bargain £200.
This turbo sump

Exhaust manifold-

Which joins to the crossover pipe (notice external wastegate flange)

I hope to get a wastegate this weekend.
The above pipes to this K26 turbo

Notice its complete with downpipe, engine mount, & coolant pipes

turbo inlet manifold was required to clear the turbo, and is colmpete with tps and throttle body.

Thanks guys!
All thats needed for rear brembos is washers, you should use the turbo discs, but its not essential, and hard to get early offset turbo rear discs. Ive used N/A ones without issues.
Work on the engine is stopped for now as im trying to finish the audi before it gets too cold.
Also looking at building a turbo engine instead now.Last edited by sumpcracker; 12-05-2011, 06:26 PM.

Guess this is the right place for my first post!
Have two 944 myself, so your car i definitely in my field of interest. Your car is super clean with all the right mods! Thats what makes it a killer
Im also converting to Turbo brakes on my -83 944 atm. Wich parts did you need to bolt them on the rear?
Keep it up!

Yeh the carrera thing is always gona divide opinions. It looks pants with nothing, and the original is puke.Originally posted by DannyE32 View Posti like everything i see but the carrera sticker. i prefer the OEM one or nothing.
anyway is a very clean and sweet ride you got there.
you need more go tho
I always felt the 944 should have had a carrera spec (like the 924 did) and i built this to the spec it should have been.
As for more go, the engine and charger (mentioned in this thread) are now ready to go in including loom, should see well over 300hp.
I see everyone is jumping on the sticker bandwagon now lol, quite typical of forums.
