I know this is your 4th or so coil setup, are you happy with it?
I assume the shocks have been custom valved to accomodate, is there any body roll cornering or dive when braking enthusiastically? or assuming that thing goes like it sounds, squat when accelerating?
I know you said that you still rub a bit, under what circumstances?
sorry about all the questions but I'm seriously interested in revalving and increasing the spring rates on my kw variant 3's
for some reason I feel the need to reiterate every time I post in this thread how incredible this car is, the effort and the result
well done sir
no 18 kg/mm spring rate is a little over 1050 lb/in. standard coilovers usually fall in the 6k-8k range for reference. Im not sure i would recommend it to the normal person, as they will likely not like it. But a properly valved strut with the correct spring drives well. just increasing the spring rate by swapping springs, and not having matching dampening would be disaster..
its really preference, but i love a stiff coilover, and these dont move. there is almost 0 body roll or pitch in turns, and at doesnt squat really at all on acceleration anymore. Only way to describe it is that it rides on rails. but with that, it is a lot less forgiving. rear end slides out easier being one of those things that you have to get used to. its a lot less forgiving.
My concern was being able to drive the car low, with almost no fender clearance, and not have a mushy ride. trust me, this took care of that. It is not for the faint of heart though, as it is very very stiff. but still, mine are 15 way adjustable all around, and i have my fronts at 12 and rears at 10 currently. so its very harsh and stiff, but thats the way i like it.Last edited by 1badg35; 02-09-2012, 03:14 PM.sigpic

I really just quoted that to tell you how much I love this car! It totally changed my view on 300ZX's!

at first i thought the lip was a bit too much, but its def. growing on me! it kinda evens out everything. the engine bay is just tits. the intake really made a difference, it looks so clean without the balance tube on top. but when you do the new intake setup you should find a way to relocate the two temp sensors. its like the more you clean it up the more noticeable all the tiny stupid details become!

thank you guys. that escort z is really something to talk about. I love that video, have seen it a few times before and still scratch my head at how fast that thing is.
im hoping for naturally aspirated 300 rear wheel once the new project is finished. but thats probably fall/winter 2012
one big thing that i did this week, is that i finally got the VG30de-TT motor that i am going to be disassembling, and mocking up all of my next parts on.. its on the stand in the garage, and is going to be getting torn completely down so i can build it back up with just the essentials. that way i can modify the parts right on it, build the newest intake manifold right on it, new valve cover design, and a bunch of other things. its easier working on a second motor then working like a surgeon and pulling the one on my car apart every time.sigpic
