  • so i need a few thoughts on some small color changes. my powertrix race ultralight 18k/16k set of coils comes in a color scheme of black and green anodize. the front upper mounts are clearly that anodized green. I am about to disassemble the fronts, and have the upper mounts powdercoated that same pearlescent white, as the wheel centers, and engine bay scheme. any thoughts?

    heres a comparo

    before

    after

i know its a small detail, but everyone knows me with small details. also having the master cylinder cap dyed in black so no more yellow. and the dipstick is getting plastidipped black as well. oh and the rad filler cap black as well. probably 100 other small things too once i spot them

    • I say go with the white on the coils. They seem much more at home in white, the green draws too much attention in my opinion.

      • White coils would match the rest of the theme of your car, which is a GREAT theme, love what you've done with it man

        • Small details make the big differences, I instantly noticed the filler cap and though it looked much better

            • deff go with the white on the coils, subtle but they flow in the 2nd pic and well as the black cap for the res

                • Ah no shit you did those sketches and renderings on Local Motors? The oldschool/ modern inspired ford. That was sick. I need to get back into sketching.

                  • thanks everyone. So it looks like the front coils are coming apart asap, and the top mounts are getting powdercoated. Already did all of the caps for the reservoirs and the radiator cap, so thats all done.

next up the manifold is coming off, and that stuff can get started. stay tuned

                        • its so easy to work on the car although being careful is an understatement. I feel like a surgeon with rubber gloves everytime i work on it now. but the motor is a joke to work on now.

pics from this morning. this is my 90% complete front lip for the jspec. I designed and created it, made foam molds, and shaped this completely out of kevlar. its strong, light, and i like the way it complements the jspec fascia. still needs a final sanding, and then to be hit in flat black in the booth. for now its just primed, but it will be sanded down again this weekend

next thing up is getting the front not to rub the fender. at this height it still rubs on turn in

                          • gotta love when the fitment is that nasty, static, and there's rubbing going on. can you sort it with some more front camber? what're the spring rates, think you mentioned earlier but...

anyway, lip looks sick for sure, hopefully it gives before the lower facia

sick build, and to restate everyone else, the attention to detail is amazing

                            • coils are dampened for and spring rates are 18k/16k, so it basically doesnt move. the front camber is already at -3.5 but i might make some more changes to it. the issue right now is that i desperately need an alignment, as i am still having issues with toe out in the front, and caster angle is too much. have to back it off a little. then i am hoping it will all work itself out.

once i can find an in floor rack, i will spend a whole day making the adjustments. luckily i have upgraded every single suspension component, so they are all adjustable. just have to adjust now

                              • this will be the temporarily completed bay in a few days. working on finishing the upper intake manifold, but everything else is done for now

its funny that i have about 20 hours into just the upper intake manifold, and this time next year, it wont be there at all... but its worth it. The details are important, and i dislike the original design of the upper plenum with that stupid oddly shaped balance tube. oh and i guess i gave a hint toward what will be coming next for the motor work...
