  • Another video, this one of my first run of the day on a dry course. There's a close call in which I passed through a slalom gate on the far side of the course very sideways and was able to reel it in just in time. That illicited a good reaction from a few spectators...

    • More updates over the last couple of weeks...

      8/8/2014:

Suspension parts have begun to trickle in. Time to freshen this thing up and turn it into a monster.

      8/14/2014:
Update: I added another order to the list, this time from Speedway Motors, in the name of converting my toe arms to bushing ends. I'm not terrifically pleased with the way the QA1 rod ends wore on my car. Though they lasted an impressive 60-70K miles, they squeaked extremely loudly almost the entire time, and last weekend I found that the bearing centers have seized to the bolts. I've contacted a few clients and have not received any negative reviews on their experience, so maybe I just got a bad batch.

      Installed this weekend:
      -Prothane rear LCA bushings
      -Prothane front control arm bushings
-All new, Grade 10 rear suspension hardware, including a cam bolt delete.
-Rebuilt endlinks with new stainless bolts and nuts with brass spacers.

      Pictures from this past weekend:

      One after the suspension work...

And the following day during a much-needed wash...

      STAY TUNED FOR:
      -Bushing joint toe arm conversion
      -Delrin steering rack bushings
      -FSWerks Race Camber/Caster Plate install
-60mm I.D. H&R race spring conversion up front to match the rear
      -624 lb/in x 100mm front springs
      -748 lb/in x 100mm rear springs
      -Lower ride height
-Power steering cooler fabrication and install

OVER THE WINTER OR AFTER H2Oi:
      -Daily Driver purchase
      -FSWerks Header
      -3.5" 6061-T6 Aluminum intake tube/ MAF housing
      -Crower Stage II cams
      -Custom Dyno Tune
      -Clutchmasters Stage 1 clutch
      -Clutchmasters aluminum flywheel
      -300mm front brake conversion
      -StopTech pads
      -Stainless brake lines all around
      -Maybe an SPI front swaybar
      -New stereo headunit
      -New stereo wiring
-Installation of 10" Cadence subwoofer with custom box
      -Modular wheels
      -Sticky tires

                • UPDATE:
Springs and camber plates are here! No, those aren't helpers in the picture, they're my actual front springs! Hopefully I can get it all installed within the next two weeks.

And STILL nobody cares about it save for a select few

But really, thank you for always lending a kind word to a beat up old economy car.

Here are the pics from this past weekend..

My friends know how much seeing da ice bothers me, so they took advantage of an opportunity...

Crappy picture of me lookin' 12, but Kayla looks cute.

                        I'm a lucky dude.

I got over this speedbump with no issues one way, got stuck going over it in the other direction; hence the lack of tucking in this pic.

                        • I guess you have to own an economy car to fully respect what you've done. From turning the mundane run of the mill econobox into a one of a kind, sports sedan thing really takes talent. Most people would rather have gotten an e30 or an s13 than build this. That's why those threads get so much attention even if it's a while lot of nothing.

Keep this thread around. I like seeing the updates, and who knows, you may have inspired some kids out there to put some wrench time into their focuses and similar cars. I know that this thread helped me push through some mods on my old elantra that I wouldn't have been able to do without the inspiration.
