That's the best way to go about it with older cars. I've always took care of most the maintenance before the fun modifications. Keeps you on the road more often than not.
Love the car btw, really looking forward to seeing pictures of the install and after.

thats it. had a battery issue the other day as my last battery installed by AAA is too small for the car. so its killed it. in the process of getting a refund then im gonna put in a proper benz battery. do it right.

i also need to fix my odometer. its stopped ticking over. oops

As if you haven't heard it before, that's a beautiful classic car. The fact that it's going on air makes it even better! Obviously finding parts doesn't seem to be a problem for you, but how are the prices?

Parts can be ok, for example the chrome body moulding on the drivers door runs about $70 (which is ok if you just need to replace 1 or 2 like I had to, to do the whole way round the car would be $$$$), a full exhaust system is around $900 (considering aftermarket ones run the same if not more) other items like rubber washers, odds and ends can be $2-$30

I'm getting a good discount on parts now too which helps alot.

They are not the cheapest cars to own/fix up but not prohibitively expensive and there is easy ways to save money sourcing used parts/ebay bargains and doing some stuff yourself rather than mechanic

. It's always best to buy the BEST one you can find. for example I was lucky and did not have to replace carpet or headliner and just those two jobs using german materials would cost you upwards of $1000 just in parts and labor could double that if you couldn't do it yourself.

the good thing is when you do needs parts, you can just call any mercedes dealer and order them. not bad for 40+ yr old car

haha if by high pants you mean purists. yea i agree however it should all be completely reversible save for a few drilled holes.. no major issue. plus. i hope to keep her forever so hopefully its just me who has to live with it

my argument would also be that mercedes fitted air to these at the factory on the 300sel so hey, im not straying that far from history

                          thankyou

the benz is getting a new alternator and oil leak fixed. should have it back in a few days.

can't wait to drop this piece of metal off at the suspension shop. I'm my own worst enemy, always delaying suspension for tires/servicing etc but i think in the long run i will be glad i did

got a new interior mirror to replace my old one also. hope to get that on this wkend
