do you plan on running a self containment seat like in your modifieds when i build miatas thats all we use
I originally planned on running 2 either kirkey or butlerbuilt full containment seats, but after reading the rules further, FD wants the seats to be FIA approved, so my parts sponsor Butch's Speedshop gave me a couple new Momo Start 2010 seats(see page 1). If I build another car I will definitely use one of my containment seats because you can get so much more feel for what the car is doing with a solid seat.
So, I REALLY fired out a lot of work on the car last night. I worked at my teams race shop from noon till 4 prepping other peoples race cars, then went straight to my shop from there. Worked from 4:30 till 2 a.m. and I was determined to finish the rear tin. I only made 3 panels, but I am super happy with how everything turned out.
All of the fitment is perfect, and all the reveals are completely square.
And at 2:11 a.m. I called it a night. All that is left on the rear aluminum is I need to drill the hole where the aircraft latches munt to hold the rear lid.
These breaks eliminated virtually all of the flex in the hinged panel, and its large enough to have plenty of access to the fuel system and air jack.
I was able to get the gaps to les than 1/16" all around surrounding the strut towers connecting the remaining trunk floor to the welded in chromoly tubing connecting the towers.
Next up will be to get started on a dash. It doesnt look like I'll have the money to buy the fiberglass dash I planned on, so an aluminum one will suffice for the time being.
I forgot to take a pic of the latches i'll be using but heres a pic i snagged off google. musch easier than a self ejecting dzus, and holds way more tension.
I also won the bid on a pair of Wilwood SL-6 billet calipers off ebay. They retail for about $600 a piece, and i got mine for $320 shipped for the pair.
