hey man ive been thinking about doing this project for maybe 6 months now, i can possibly get a trashy e30 for 1500, gotta get new interior new paint, get rid of 250k mile engine get air suspension rims subs, the whole lot. You look like you are going through alot of those same things and i was wondering, is it worth it all? my parents keep putting me down and saying it will cost to much and wont be worth it, but im a car guy and i really wanna do a build like this. so i just wanted to know if you had alot of fun with it, how much you spent and how hard was it?

To be honest. If I had to start over, I would have just got suspension and wheels, and drove it like that for a while doing little weekend jobs to it here and there. I've spent waaayyyy too much, and in the end I havn't been able to drive the car in 2 years...Consider building a daily that you can have fun with first..then buy a cheap project car that doesn't have a time limit or deadline on it. Build it up over time...just my 2 centsOriginally posted by Zak325 View Posthey man ive been thinking about doing this project for maybe 6 months now, i can possibly get a trashy e30 for 1500, gotta get new interior new paint, get rid of 250k mile engine get air suspension rims subs, the whole lot. Being someone who has the same swap in their e36, this is truer than you can ever know.Originally posted by EuroNut View PostTo be honest. Enjoy the thread sir, currently in the process of finishing up my SR20 powered E30. As for the purists out there, we choose the swaps we do because we are performance purists and not stuck on brand names or labels! Is your Ipod filled with music and video only purchased off I-tunes???
Almost went with the 1j as well but the lighter SR was to hard to pass up as the E30 will mostly be seeing turns at the circuit. I would have loved to do a F20 or F22 s2k engine but that engine/trans/harness/ecu costs a VERY pretty penny here in Thailand.

thank you sirOriginally posted by Starlet View Postnice job man, there are some jzs bmw projects in my country and sr20, always loved that kind of swap
Thanks, I also considered all the engines that you did, but when I first decided to do a 1jz it was b/c i had never seen it done before...because my project has taken me 2 years, they seem to be popping up everywhere now lolOriginally posted by tunermt View PostEnjoy the thread sir, currently in the process of finishing up my SR20 powered E30. I might relocate the battery next year. The engine is going to come out so that I can paint the engine bay, so we'll see...but there is more than enough room to keep the battery where it isOriginally posted by yat325 View Postbro nice job done there....just my 2cento...why not u put the batery behind....i mean at trunk area...so u have much place in ur engine bay...

1j/2j swaps may have become more popular but i'm sure driving it will still paint the same smile on your face no matter how many other are out there these days
looking forward to some action shots of this thing!

So I had been debating a good way to mount my intercooler and build a skid plate...and after pondering for some time, I decided that a new lower rad support would be needed. So thanks to Hooowybrow, the work began
bye bye oem rad support...

this is the basis for the new one

rad mount tabs

installed and boxed in

intercooler tabs

all finished

while jeff was doing the fab work, I was bored so i polished the rest of the paint off of my center caps

then this happened

I can barely read that word let alone know what it means.Originally posted by sawatsky View PostNice; existentialist wheels.
So happy this car is where it's at, rather excited to get the exhaust done on it and to see it out touring around with me
