Id honestly say 6 coats is a shit ton of clear!
You're right about getting it smooth though!
I would say that your friends are correct about doing it for production or bodyshop ways the faster stuff gets done the more money is made. I painted for 3yrs before joining the navy.

I was just stating that 6 isnt that much, ive seen alot more then that done to help cover heavy flakes for minitrucks and such. But in the end I have no idea how many coats were sanded off the make it smooth lol

    • Nothing good, but still progress.

welded the lines shut. The little things get to me haha

Pulled out another wire wheel and stripped all the primer off the seals. I'm set on making this as rust free as possible.

Purchased the prep and por 15. The prep and ready leaves a zinc coat, pretty badass.

sprayed all the metal and infected areas with the metal ready.

After 30 minutes you can really see it bubbling and pulling up the rust.

cleaned everything off and applied a liberal coating of por 15 to all the headliner, a/b pillars. and any trim that had raw metal/ rust.

Por 15's light sensitive so i'm going to let it dry in my garage till friday, then do a light sand and spary some can primer on it.
