Try insuring three of them in NYS, all of which have full coverage.

I dread my insurance bill every month during the summer.

Older than 25, married, and drive under 7500 miles a year. I have full coverage on both my cars and it cost me $100 a month. Thats how I afford it.

Including all my vehicles I have had 13-14 I think. Right now I have 3
          2013 Silverado (a big mistake)
          81 Toyota
          And an 81 parts truck.

I'm 22 and pay it all myself, total insurance about 150 per month.

I have 4 (technically 5) cars right now. I see no problem with my decision to buy 4 complete cars instead of 1 complete entertainment center with vid games for my living room. I haven't bought a TV since sony trinitron in 1999ish. I saved my allowance and my parents pitched in half way for it. Pretty sick to play Zelda on. I still have Zelda and an N64, but no TV. LOL

Cars are my favorite thing, they're what I do all day for work, and all night to occupy my brain. Of course I'm surrounding myself with the coolest cheapies I can get my hands on.

I see no brainer deals and jump on them. I daily a $300 car that gets 38mpg and I've driven it over 100K miles. I average 3000 miles a week if I decide to bust my ass and make some money.

I've bought "wheels" that I was looking for and the rest of the car came with it. Same thing with radios and motors.

            I have a problem.

Being poor as hell doesn't help.

I DD my project, AKA '75 Datsun 620.
              I also have a '75 Kawasaki KV100 but it doesn't run.

With hours at work going the way they are, I'll be down to just my truck for a while. I'd like to pick up a beater Honda or something old and cool for a while (80's import for sure) to cruise in and gut my truck. Just can't afford that right now.

I would love to have 2 cars. Unfortunately the Evo is already expensive and I'm still paying that off. One day I'll have two cars, hopefully it's the Evo and a big body sedan!

Hell, even a single cab short bed mini truck would be sweet.

                    • Funny that this thread I made got brought up again...

After I started this, I got myself down to just one car and moved across the state to a new place and I thought I could be fine with only one auto. Then two months later I bought a second car again. I have had up to five cars at a time over last year, but am now down to only three and it's just about perfect given the maintenance and money I'm having to throw at them, as well as living in a townhouse complex these days so parking is limited.

                      • I wish I could live with one car at a time. I just don't have enough time or space to do everything I want.

I've got the eternal project stang that has so far spent more time on jackstands than cruising, but that will change this summer.

Then I recently brought a brand new truck, which was a godsend. Now I can tow my other vehicles, haul parts, etc... Of course I made the stupid move of buying a 2500 diesel that is just begging to be modified. I'm trying to hold myself to ONLY doing deletes, tuner, and wheels. They can become money pits fast. Their potential is a two edged sword.

I still have my last DD, my little college beater Neon that I'm hesitant to sell until I know at least one of my cars will be fully operable at all times.

And then there's my first car, my 70 Cutlass. That thing is sitting mostly disassembled in storage until I get enough space and wrap up my other projects to do a full frame off restoration.

I suppose I'm not happy unless I have a project going on. Nothing is more theraputic than going out to the garage to work on the car and have a beer and a cigar. I feel lost and aimless without a big project to work on.

Luckily I've got plenty to do for the forseeable future. Mustang needs the heater core replaced, whole rear suspension pulled for delrin bushings, and eventually a compound boost setup fabricated. Truck needs the tuner and all the deletes installed. And the Cutlass has at least a year's worth of work to be done in restoring it.

i'll pretty much always have to own a project +1, gotta keep that daily

                          • I'm dying for a second car. Not sure whether to go in the route of fixing up something and making it really rowdy or just having a cool, yet sensible daily. I know which one I want, but I know which one is more practical and going to break my bank less. I'm really torn.

                              • I currently have three, although I'm trying to work out a deal to sell/swap the MG. Being about to graduate college, and not having my own place, it's really not a good idea to have three projects going. I just can't help it; you come across something you see great potential in at a price you just can't ignore.

I figure it's best to use disposable income on things I really like before it all gets sucked away in school loan payments 6 months after I graduate.
