Used to have 3. My GLI, an 89 Suby XT6 and a 99 Ford Escort. The Escort got totalled by a drunk driver, and I sold the Suby for cash for my GLI.

Having one car does suck, but I can't afford much else now.

If I didn't have to pay for tuition, rent, car insurance, multiple bills, and groceries, maybe I'd have a second car. It's hard just hanging on to one for me right now.

I did have two cars at once one time. My '84 733i and '98 A4. The E23 wasn't insured, and was just a project.

If I wasn't in college I'm sure I'd have 2-3 cars right now. My E24 as a project, a diesel VW or some type of 4x4 pickup for a DD at least. Sucks, the E24 is my DD in the current situation.

i say E30. (lowering it will be a bit more expensive than a Mk3)
Vdub is nice.. i drive Mk2 diesel.. and hobby E30M3.

Because everybody counts howmuch car they owned..
i'm 30yrs now.. and had 40 cars in 13 yrs...

I have 3.5(the .5 being my parts car M3). It's awesome to have a car to drive when another breaks. It's NOT awesome when they're all broken at the same time. I love having a variety though. I've got my E28(low and slow), my E36(fast(eventually) and fun), and my E34(daily cruiser).

I have 2. I'd love to have 5 or more, but I don't have the funds or the space or the time for them. What sucks is if I ever had to sell one of them I'm not sure I could choose one.

If I had a job Im sure I'd have a 2nd or 3rd car. Last one I bought the motor blew.
At one point though I did own 3 cars. The VW, a Camaro, and my DD Integra.

I only own one car because I have too many other toys... 2-streetbikes 2-jetskis, long board collection, 2-custom BMX's, Vintage/Lowrider bike, I also wakeboard, foot boot (been awhile) I just got rid of my sand drag quad, and rock crawler, and I am an avid t-shirt owner, haha... FAWK! No wonder I don't have any time or money!

i dream about owning only one or two cars,a DD that never broke down and a project car that is driveable whenever i want...
The reality, i own 3 cars, two of them do not have engines ans the third is the e21 bimmer and is currently broking down..., she was supposed to be my DD when i sold my Volvo S70...
i drive my girl's car and she's getting out of town every three weeks for work so i won't have any rolling car... i almost find another work at 25kms, i guess i need to find a 4th car as the previously mentioned "perfect DD"
perhaps i will sell one of the 3 others... not enough money and not enough time for working on them...

the dream would be to have a clean DD that do not cost a lot, the project car almost finished, dirveable even if yoy ever want to fix/modify something... wait some months to choose the perfect next project, grab enough money to buy it and begin it... Not have 3 project cars not running, one part car and no DD...

i am almost 25 and i have owned 9 cars, one (the 3rd) was payed by my dad, 3000€.
All the other was payed by myself.

Out here in NYC, the insurance rates are some of the highest in the country. If you are a young single male, its ridiculous. On top of that, there is no parking anywhere. Its rare that anyone has a multi car garage so the second car would most likely have to be parked in the street. At my old house, if my neighbor was parked half a foot too far, I couldn't fit in my drive way and would have to drive around for a half an hour just to find parking and thats in the sub-urbs, not even the city. You have to pay meters just about everywhere you go unless you park it in a storage garage for $30-$50 for 8-10 hours. Our tolls on average is about $8. It all adds up.


Our public transit is great so you don't even need to own a car. I had my car in the shop on and off for about 3 years out of the 5 that I owned it, with no other car and I still got around with no issues.
