How did you quit smoking?

I do smoke around friends and family. Its just when I run out I go crazy for that 10-20 min before I open new pack. lol

I usually buy 6 cartons at the time.

I try not to smoke a lot around family/friends since they don't like it. I use to be able to go 6 hours without a cigarette but if I know I didn't have any to smoke, I'd go crazy.

I use to buy a carton every 3 weeks. After seeing how much I spent durring the last semester on cigarettes, I decided to quit. I couldn't imagine 6 cartons lol.

My dad quit on the gum after 20+ years. Just one day bought it and hasn't smoked since.

I've quit a couple of times now. The first day and second morning is torture but by lunch on the second day im good. My problem is that a week or 2 later I feel like I can have a cig without feeling the NEED to have another one. Fails everytime. But decide that your going to quit at night and then don't have that morning cig the next morning, I've found it makes the first day a little more bareable.

Stike, have you gone threw the not wanting a cigarette but get aggravated at everything and that makes you want a cigarette stage? Happens to me at least once a day now. Like being in class and someone hands me a wrong size socket when they say they know the right size pisses me off. Or just like getting woken up the wrong way makes me want to flip out. Not sure if its this medicine, or the withdraw. Its like I don't want to smoke, but feeling aggravated over the small things 24/7 makes me want to smoke just to feel "normal".

I cant go more than two hours without cigarette. Been smoking for almost 3/4 of my whole life.
I tryed quiting twice but didnt even last for more than 24 hours.

its super hard.

Have you tried any patches or "quit smoking pills"? I tried once cold turkey but that only lasted a few hours, nothing close to 24.

i tried the gum and it tastes like mint for about 30 seconds then it tastes like you might as well be chewing on a cigarette.

the biggest reason i quit was A: i could feel my lungs taking a major impact and B: it started effecting my life, my car smelled aweful, i put two burns in my 300$ oakley jacket(so pissed off) and two holes in my 80$ burton sweatshirt. thats when i knew it was time to call it quits. cold turkey is the way for me to do it, although i havent been smoking for that long so i can only imagine how hard it is for you guys who have been doing it for 10+ years. i know sometimes i'll throw a dip in just to get my nicotine craving, but thats maybe a once a week thing (and not something i suggest doing). i dipped for 4 months last summer and i can honestly say dipping was harder to quit than cigarettes.

Yeah I feel yeah. Its probably the worst stage. Just randomly I would flip out. It was bad for like the second week, but then it does fade off. It happens to me like once a week now and im on my third week now? I lost count lol. But it does go away.

How much are you guys paying for cigs nowadays? When I was 16-17(2007ish), it was 3.50 for a pack of newports, 3.75 for marbs, and 60 cents for whiteowls/dutches at the indian gas station down the road from me... Ahhh the glory days..

about 5 bucks for cheap cigs, 6 bucks for Marlboro and Newport's are a little more expensive. I noticed that theres a lot less if not any buy one get one free like they use to have. just $1 off.

american spirits are always more expensive becasue they lack chemicals that make you adicted, so they figure you might not buy some later. beacsue you wont be addicted so they have to charge you out the ass for them
