I'm quitting, again lol. I did quit, but started back up what with the divorce and all. I'm doing the same thing I did last time. Patch for a day or two to help with nicotine, natural supplements and vitamins, and focusing on other things. I was able to quit, but I was angry as *&^% and tired all the time when I first tried. Take 2, on vitamins, with enough sleep, and all that, I did it no problem, so that is what I'm going for now.
Good luck to ya man!

Just stop. You have to make the choice yourself. Cold turkey is the best way.
I was never really a heavy smoker, but I smoked at every party (sometimes half a pack or more) and when I went to school (most days of the week). Didn't smoke often at home, never infront of my parents (step dad's parents both died of lung cancer). I smoked newport 100's.
January of '10 I decided to have my last cigarette. Haven't had one since. I think it was just the right time for me. I went back to that feeling of when I was a kid and thought cigarettes were disgusting and holding your breath when you pass someone smoking. I smoke hookah pretty regularly, and weed every now and then. But cigarettes I don't ever want to go back to.
I don't have an addictive personality, could be the reason it was so easy for me.

I decided to quit for New Years. I did this two years ago (been a pack a day smoker for about 3 years now), to limited success. I used Wellbutrin for the first two months, and it helped somewhat. I made it three months before I found the one friend that I didn't tell about my escapades quitting. I was drunk, I had one outside a bar, and it was a rough downhill spiral from there right back to a pack a day.
I quit earlier in 2010, when I had to buy a pack of cigarettes downtown and it cost me 12 bucks and change. I almost shit myself in sadness and rage simultaneously, so I quit cold turkey for a month on principle.
This time, I'm doing it cold turkey again, and it's only been a week, but I've had maybe 2 cigarettes in that week? Compared to the 140 I normally do, that's a pretty marked decrease.
I keep telling myself that it's not the right time to quit, since I'm working two jobs that occupy all 7 days of my week (and about 70 hours, as well), I just went through some seriously bad shit with a good friend, and cigarettes are the only crutch I have. I basically went from having a great stress reliever to having excessive amounts of stress and no way to decompress.
But it's going well so far.
