PS: You're the runner... Is it easier to shed inches (stomach area) by distance running like I have been or sprint/interval training?
There is no such thing as spot reduction and the quickest way to lose body fat is swimming

      Just a suggestion though.
The body is still healing from the tearing and ripping of the slow twitch and the fast twitch muscle fibers, five minutes after your work eat a banana, the potassium helps greatly with the healing. Also twenty minutes after your work out eat a small piece of dark chocolate to help with your blood flow and the sugars will allow your body to heal faster.

        I'm doing:
4 sets of 10 at 135 and I upped it to 140 today on the last set.
4 sets of 10 dumbell curls at 35 upped to 40 today.
4 sets of shrugs at 70.
        4 sets of 20 situps
4 sets of 1min planks, side planks, straight leg lifts and bicycles.
Tomorrow I start my running schedule, probably put down 6 a day for the first week, then up to 8 on tuesdays and thursdays with intervals MWF.
I wouldnt worry about running for now because the winter is the normally known as the off season and shedding pounds isnt necesarily needed. Stick with the push and pull style workouts for maximum effectiveness

        • Seriously awesome info, on the banana and dark chocolate!

I used to run regularly and competitively, so I don't consider winter my off season. I haven't run in a while, so this is my start up time.

haha no problem man, and I know what you mean about the offseason. It just gets colder here in Georgia so I like to add on as much fat as possible to keep me warm

Damn so! Pumping iron? I usually worm up by bench pressing school bus (short one though, only 14 seater). My goal is to step up to 32 seater by summer time!

                      • i think i've reached the point where i have to slow it down on strength, power, and weight. it's starting to hinder my running ability. I wanted to be this weight by summer arrived, but i managed to reach it by the second semester of college. 5'11" and 182 pounds.
