      • Forgot to post these pics.

So I was really worried about the whole rolling fenders thing since a roller isn't easily attainable around here. So I did it without one.

All I really did was use a heatgun and a soft faced dead blow to roll them over. I learned taking your time is key. Heat up the lip, start bending it over, heat it up, you get the point..... I was able to fold them all the way over without destroying the paint, so that made me happy. Took about 30-35 minutes each side.

Get ready for some high quality photos:

        Before:

This lip was really stiff too. It's the actual quarter and inner quarter coming together and then spotwelded. Stiff stuff

        After:

Made plenty of room for the wheels. I just have to do a little work to the bumper bracket so there isn't as much rubbing. I'm taking the car to SoWo, so by the time I add a passenger, gear, and beer, I need suspension travel room.

Still waiting on spacers. Then I'll get everything dialed and get non-iphone pics.

        • Little update.

I've been sick with a Sinus Infection since the weekend, so tonight I was finally feeling better so I went out to work on my car.

Rolled the front fenders a little more, lowered the front a touch, and fixed my rubbing issue in the rear. It sitting pretty good IMO.

I know this is worthless without pics, but I'll have some tomorrow or Friday hopefully.

            • In case you guys missed it in the Showroom, I finally got some pictures on how its sitting:

While I'm pretty happy with the fitment, there's always room for improvement. The fronts are maxed out and I'd still like it to be a little lower. After taking with Jaze from Broadway Static, I came up with a plan to rebuild the coilovers over winter so I can finally get it sitting a little better.

The plan is to get shorter coilover bodies for the front, and have them valved for 10k spring rates so I can run a 135mm 10k spring. Megan sells the springs I would need. I originally thought about going with Swift springs, but after thinking about it I don't really need springs that crazy since my car is more "stance" oriented than overall coilover performance. Since the coilover body will be valved correctly, it should ride good and stiff but not be bouncy.

As for the rears, they are currently valved for 4k springs and are wayyyy too soft. After going to SoWo this past weekend with a passenger and gear, I had a rubbing issue and stiffer springs would have helped a lot. Plan is to send away the rear bodies and get them valved to run 8k spring rates. I'll then switch the rear 4k spring for an 8k spring from Megan and go from there.

Doing all this will allow me to lower the car enough to almost set the subframe on the ground. Of course this isn't that practical being this is my daily, but its nice to know I could do it if I wanted to. It will allow me to lower the front more so I can match the rear fitment while still being stiff enough so I can turn hitting bumps without ruining my fenders anymore than they already are.

              That's the plan for now.

              • Saw the car at SoWo and my jaw dropped. Never thought I'd see a stanced Spectra. I only took one pic, but here's a quick edit of it

                  • Cant wait to see it after the new shocks and springs, should look even more killer. Ever looked into replacing/ simplifying the grill? After looking at the car for a few minutes, thats honestly the only thing I don't like. Could be just me though!

                        Thanks man.

There isn't anything out there grill wise, but if I found a lip it could really change the entire look of the front end. The Spectra5 hatch's came with a ground effects kit from the factory and I have been trying to find a front lip for the past year and a half. They are impossible to find used and a new one through the dealer is over $300.

Other than the suspension work over winter, I think I've done everything I want to with this vehicle. I just want to use it as a daily and save up for my next creation. You can bet I'll be staying in the Hyundai/Kia family.
