That complete turbo kit sold for $400
I tried to buy it but he never replied even though I was the first one to message him. Turbo kits aren't that expensive. CT9a turbo mani's can fit with minimal modification.
    Thanks, but no thanks.

If I turbo this, its the whole 9 yards. I'd build it from the block up so I could run 15+ psi and still have it as a reliable DD. I know you can run 10 psi on a stock motor, but mine almost has 90k on it.

It'd be easier just leaving this car n/a and buying something turbo next time around.

Yeah, it probably would be better to build it from the ground up. 90k miles is nothing l:

I have 160k and then some on my 05 elantra, and the guy who works on it says in its current condition it should be good well into the 200k's and then some.

These little engines just don't know how to quit.

How many horses would you plan to shoot for? 15 psi would sound around 230 ish whp knowing the current setups out there.

I'd love to go 300+ while still having it be manageable as a DD.

I don't think the trans would ever hold that let alone I don't think I'd have any traction through 1st and 2nd. Even then you'd probably only be able to roll on 3rd.

Theres an automatic tiburon that runs 10 second qm's with the beta 2 and a regular auto tranny.

Pretty sure the 5 speed should hold that kind of power.

          • Update:

I'm poor and the car needs some work. Clutch, timing belt, brakes all around, all the little things to keep it going.

Working on buying a house so widening the wheels is gonna have to wait a bit. I did however bid on another job at work that gives me a 10K+ a year pay bonus, so we'll see how that works out.

With that said, within the next week I am going to start tearing down the wheels to get them ready for this year. Plan on removing the faces so I can re-polish the lips. Also, since I don't have the money to widen them, I plan on spacing them out a smidge more for the time being.

Other than the maintence things the car will pretty much stay the same this year. Grown up priorites suck (lol) but I plan to document the refinishing just because I can.

            That's all for now.

              • Being a grown up really does suck. I'm starting to have that reality hit me.

                Keep it up, dude.

                    No.

Going on a pretty long vacation in August and I'll burn up pretty much all my vacation time on that this year.

Might try and make it to H20, but we'll see.

                          • So yesterday I ripped out a bunch of the interior and cleaned. Here are a couple pics:

No pics of the process but you get the idea. Dusted everything and used some spray carpet shampoo for the seats, mats, and carpet.

                            All done:

Eventually I want to do something different with the battery, but for now that works.

Next week I finally plan to get my tires taken off my wheels so I can start getting them ready. Need to see what sandpaper I have and then go to the store to get some stuff for wetsanding.

Plan is to take each of the faces off, sand everything nice and smooth, then polish them up real nice. If I weren't looking to buy a house I'd send the centers out to get painted and widen the 2 8" wheels, but hopefully I can do that next year over winter.

On top of that, I also just ordered premium Centric rotors for the front and rear. The rotor hats are painted to keep them from rusting. Also ordered Akebono low noise and dust Ceramic pads for the front and rear. Picked up a new RF wheel speed sensor as well to get rid of my CEL.

Also ordered a Dayco timing belt, idler pulley, tensioner, and the 3 accessory belts. Power steering, a/c, and alternator.

Plan is when it gets a little nicer outside I'll throw the car on jackstands outside, pull the front and rear bumpers, splash guards and other shit, and powerwash all under the car and clean the engine bay. I have some flat spray paint kicking around so I think I also want to paint my intake piping black and also throw a coat on the subframes and rear sway bar. When I do all that stuff I'll also take off my old brakes and when I put everything together put the new stuff one. If I time it right I'll also have my wheels done. I already ordered and received my 10 mm spacers so both the front and rear will be spaced out 15mm instead of just 10.

Sometime this summer when I've done all the other stuff, I'll take a day and do the timing belt. I can get the step by step directions online from Kia so it won't be too hard.

Other than that the only thing left to do is the clutch and change the trans gear oil again. Not sure if I want to go with an OEM clutch or upgrade to a stage 1. We'll see, also might go with a lighter Fidanza flywheel.

That's all for now. Gonna be a busy next couple of weeks.
