    Thanks!

So due to the lack of space to run a typical 4 link setup in the rear and my unwillingness to carve up the Stude, I've been designing a parallel 2 link system with maybe a pan hard bar(if it needs it) that consists of poly bushings at the original front leaf spring mount with a section of tube running to a plate with holes for u bolts welded to a wristed tapered bearing spindle that runs perpendicular to the axle tube.

Wait what the hell am I talking about, it might sound confusing but it's really no different than those pivoting leaf spring mounts 4x4 guys use to gain articulation.

This was an early drawing before I realized I wasn't go to need the bend in the tube.
I have all the parts ordered so just waiting until they arrive.
The crosshatch area is threads for adjustability.

I also put it on the ground for kicks.

Gotta love when christmas comes early.

Rebuilt 8.5" pressure plate assembly (original was 8"), 100amp alternator kit, and dual rubber and spring isolated compressor mounts.

I'm waiting on a couple items so in the meantime I turned my attention to a few items in the engine bay. The car never had a battery tray just a clamp and J-hook into the fender which I wasn't really comfortable leaving that way so I modified a battery tray from ruff stuff specialties that I had bought awhile ago.

It was a perfect fit for the battery and the area on the inner fender so I marked and drilled four holes, transferred the pattern to the inner fender and drilled those, painted the tray, and it was good to go. I also replaced the battery leads as well as the starter relay in the process.

I still need to rubber dip the clamp and I thought the cloth post wraps were a classy touch. I also placed four soft rubber washers under the tray to keep both surfaces somewhat protected.

I also cleaned and painted the horn, the hood prop rod, and the irreplaceable fiberglass heater core shroud. For the hood prop I also slid two rubber grommets down over it so to isolate it from rattling against the inner fender. I really like the contrast of the black against the blue.

This thing looks killer. As the caretaker of an AMC wagon, I just can't express how cool it is to find someone slamming one of these old cars from a defunct manufacturer. Keep up the good work and consider me sub'd.

Got some parts to begin building the rear links.

These are the spindles that will run perpendicular to the axle tube and get welded under the u bolt plate. Rated at 1000lbs each they should be plenty strong for the job. I'm currently turning a 1"-14 thread on the raw end to thread into the links for adjustability and so I don't weld directly to the spindle shaft and risk embrittling them.

Bushing ends for the leaf spring pockets and u bolt plates.

Fitting the races into the housings

Didn't have to use the hammer just tapped them down with the piece of tube.

a little #weldporn, not mine, I paid extra for this

Also got the engine belt aligned properly, the supplied bracket for the alternator conversion was slightly off so I slotted the holes and it was good to go.

Thank you so I am waiting for a new welding gun and cable to continue the suspension work because my 12yr one sprung a shield gas leak inside the sheathing but in the meantime I'm still working on some things.

I cut a template for the trunk subfloor using 3 individual cardboard templates that I then lined up to trace the fullsize piece.

I still want a spare tire so I'll probably have it hinged at the wheelwells.

I also picked up this awesome and rare Offenhauser dual carb intake.

My welder is back up and running so I can continue on with the suspension.

These are the trailing arm links mocked up, I'm going to add a bit more gusseting and I have some new u bolts on the way
but it looks like they will work fairly well and give me all sorts of room above the axle for the bag mounts and whatnot.

It'll need a panhard bar as well.

                            full bump

                            somewhere near ride height

This build is fantastic! I love the patina, do you plan to keep the original paint? It reminds me of Icon's Derelict cars. Air on steelies is exactly how I would do this as well..

Thanks and that's the plan, probably get it buffed out a bit and maybe cleared.
