Just about everything disconnected. Sure I'm missing a few things but will see once I start lifting. Motor and tranny coming out in one piece. Should be out tonight. Swap parts are also on order. Should be here next week maybe.

Nice progress. Any reason why you aren't yanking the motor with the harness and manifold attached? It's pretty quick that way.

Couldn't find a good lifting point in the rear to safely lift the motor from. If the tranny wasnt attached then I would of. But just felt it was easier this way.

Okay. Motor and tranny are out. Couldn't snag any pics cause the phone was acting up. But now its time to start planning what's next. Waiting on the mounts and such so I can test fit them and make aire everything will work.

Motors out. Selling it off with the tranny if anybody wants it. Needs a pan and starter. $200

There is some rot on the passenger side apron and it is working its way on the strut tower. So instead of replacing the apron and front part of the wheel well, I will cutting out the front half of the wheel well on boths sides. Cleaning up any rust and welding 2 steel bars from the frame rail to the tip of the strut tower and the apron. This will help support the tower and apron and add some reinforcement since it will be tied into the rails now. Once i get everything out I will mock something up and snag a pic.

Thanks for making a thread worth reading. I was glad to see more than a "I turned down my coilovers" build thread.

                    Thanks man.

Pretty sure I got my wheels and flares picked out as well.

                    • V8 swap goodies came in.

Started cutting at the wheel well's to fix the rot on one side and reinforce them with steel piping. One side is out, had to stop on the driver side cause I clipped the brake line so that needs to be fixed now as well.

Spent Saturday after work moving the motor out of my shed across 100ft of snow and ice with my dad to get it to the shop. Took us like 3 hours.

                      Not sketchy at all.

Motor is in the shop and final tear down begins this week. Gotta paint a few more pieces and get some small things such as cam lube and lines before the reassembly begins. Hoping everything goes smoothly.

                      • If you were closer I'd give you all my spare/ rebuild parts/ gaskets for EFI stuff, probably wouldn't be worth it to ship though.

                        • I'm doing almost all the gaskets except the oil pan I believe. Head gasket, intake, water pump, valve cover etc. Found someone who had every piece to do this swap but lost motivation to do it. Now he is selling me all of it on the cheaps. Haha.

                          • Did more motor things tonight.

Got alot of cleaning to do. Get all the sand and dirt and grime out before reassembly. Paint a few more pieces still i should be good to go. Oh, and I still need to get the cam pulley and harmonic balancer off. That shit just wont come off.

                            • Finished up assembling the last head.

Stock valve covers were pretty oxidized and didn't want to deal with refinishing them. So I picked these up for $20. Has a small crack on one of the edges, gonna JB weld it up and sand it down so there wont be any issues when putting them on.

                              Painted therm of course.

Also decided to paint the Rotor cap since I was an idiot and ordered a red one. All black all the things.

Can't wait to see what it looks like when everything is assembled. I hope it's as good as I envisioned it.

Also, our 4th tenant moved into our shop and we got his freshly acquired 86 Z31 300zx.

This car is beyond cool, especially with the OEM digital dash. Plans are to dump it and slide it.

Engine reassembly should hopefully start this week. Still need to clean all the mating surfaces and everything else while I'm in there. I'm seeing alot of debris in the block so I'll be flushing out the entire system once everything is together and running.

Also, hopefully going to start mocking up the bars for the front apron. I'm hoping to have the swap finished and hopefully a set of wheels by May 1st. Praying it all works out.

                              • Not much motivation these past few days. Just a few parts shy of having everything to complete the swap. Tomorrow plans are to setup the power steering, do some cutting and tilt the ABS unit for header clearance.
