Decided to start a build thread for my Volkswagen bug. I named her Gretchen which is German for "little pearl" which I think suits this car quite well.

Gretchen when she was first pulled from the barn in Oregon where she sat for around 40 Years.

She is a 63 panama beige deluxe with original paint, fender beading and running board mats. The car came with factory pop outs which is slightly rare for the 64 and down cars. The car has around 4,000 original miles to the best of my knowledge which I believe to be true based on how original this car was upon purchase with stuff like factory light bulbs, tires with almost no tread wear, and other small things such as original axle boots that aren't trashed.
Here's a close up of one of the factory tires with the made in Germany logo on the back

And as of today I have gotten her running and driving and most of the electrical working. The car was hit at some point in the front end early in its life and that's why I believe the PO took it off the road. and I've been able to fix most of the front end but the car will eventually get a new front clip when I can find one that's been un-hit in my factory color.
the mod list as of right now to the car includes.
6" narrowed beam
2.5" drop spindles
Flipped tie rods
Narrowed headlight buckets
extended/notched spring plates (may eventually go to drop plates instead)
3 outer clicks (I believe)
40 horse 1200cc engine completely stock
6v electronics
Factory pop out windows
Wheels/Tires:
front-4.5" et.+34 BBT sprintstars wrapped in 145x65r15 tires
Rear-5.5" et.+10 BBT sprintstars wrapped in 185X65r15 tires
Accessories:
flat 4 Robri style fender guards with boot scraper
Empi day/night mirror
OG rear vent trim
dual color fog light
euro tail lights
German export plates
Kamei parcel tray
center console basket
factory radio
Bi-flector on the hood
Early rear mudflaps (not pictured)
Puffed peanut turn signals (not pictured)
and here are some current pictures of it. wish I would of started this build thread earlier but there will always be more updates later on.

And here's a picture of the shop where me and my friends work on Volkswagen's at.
