well. still haven't gotten this pile on the road yet. just cruised it around town a bit.

It seems to have a fueling problem. it won't create any power to get moving. I've replaced the fuel tank strainer, fuel filter, fuel pump, cleaned the injectors and put a new fuel pressure regulatoron it. It is still running like crap.

I cut off the exhaust thinking maybe the cat is plugged. Nope

Really staring to make me want to

So.....I couldn't sleep Saturday night, and decided rip apart the Fuel Distributor and see if there is something in there screwed up. It was like pandoras box

So anyway, I think I finally found my problem

This is the membrane. its supposed to control the flow of the fuel. And after performing the tests in the Mercedes manual, it flunked.

So after work, I'm running out to a junkyard to get another complete fuel injection unit and hopefully that will fix it. Then I have to weld the exhaust back together.

went to the junkyard and picked up some parts. long story short. it drives. and runs great.

i think i plugged up another fuel filter. I'll get another tomorrow. but so far I'm in love.

I spotted some 17" AMG wheels at the junkyard as well. they want $100 for the set. I may or may not get them. I'm not sure how they would look.

a couple pictures from cruising around tonight.

lots more to do. but i have a hell of a deadline for Friday for work. So, I don't know if I'll have much time to get more done.

These are the wheels I found. What do you think? Are they worth it? they are 17"

Can someone do a photoshop of these on my car?

I want to move to a place that has a junkyard with mint AMG rims like that! I would be snapping these up for sure, and I'm not even driving a Merc!
Really loving the journey you are painting with this build!

they don't look that good. and they are missing one of the front ones. so, i'd have to find one of them. not sure if its worth it though.

I would love to, IF the shipping prices weren't that freakin' high..
Stupid-ass TNT express costs like €150-plus to ship a small box to the US

OT: glad to see u got it driving. Especially with your single-pump setup.
Best wheels to go for... Ehrm... just go vintage! Some superwide 16" (with meaty tyres) or 17" should be enough I think.
AMG AERO's or Penta-Stars are always a good bet. Modern AMG's and other 90's-onwards wheels just won't do the trick imho.

I really want to see how this thing is going to be in the end. So you've earned my 60th subscription sir.

I have a few leaks to fix. mostly the transmission cooler and i think the oil pan is leaking. So next oil change I'll work on those things.

I threw the exhaust together. I cut it off at the catalytic converter and just threw on some down turns.

i didn't take any pictures. it was just throw together so i could take it for a spin. tonight, I'll rip it off again and redo it. I'm thinking straight pipes from the cats out to the back. its surprisingly not too loud.

This is what it sounds like with the exhaust cut off right in front of the catalytic converters.

Powerstroke is fixed. No more leaks.

I finished working on a Range Rover Classic and got the brakes working again.

I'm going to pull the fuel tank on my Merc and clean it out.

I saw a w126 sitting at a HUGE salvage and recycle yard this morning (was looking for a high volume fan for the dyno room) Looked like it was in decent condition, paint was good too & thats hard to find in AZ. Immediately thought of this thread. If it's still there next month I might have to pick it up!

did some little stuff this weekend. I've always ***** how the faded out grey grill looked on this.

                                Old nasty faded.

I had a can of black plasitdip laying around waiting to be used. So I took the grill apart, washed it and let it dry on the driveway. Some lady came by to see my wife and almost ran it over.

So after saving it from a minivan execution, i hung it up to paint.

                                yeah crappy shot.

But this is the finished product reinstalled. Looks so much better. I can be happy again. maybe someday it'll run as well.
