Finally fixed another issue. The driverside window wouldn't roll up. Some of the plastic parts on the original window regulator had perished. So I did what any sensible dude would do, went to the junkyard and picked up a working on for $15. I had to use some fender washers though as I feared the parts would break again with the old plastic parts ready to break.

Now my window rolls up and down. Very happy!

I have zero idea how Plastidip will stick to rough plastic, but since it'll just peel off if you hate it, I can't imagine it would hurt to try. You'll probably want to put it on rather thick so it will peel off the textured plastic of the bumpers and moldings.

On my old truck, I used the Rustoleum Trim & Bumper Paint to clean up the faded trim, and it worked well - the color was very flat, with just the tiniest bit of texture. Like all flat paints, you'll have to be careful with your coverage to keep the texture consistent.

I'm thinking about doing the bumpers and side molding this was as well.

    what do you think?

The bumpers look like hell since they are faded out anyway

Why Mercedes decided to have the grilles on this era Mercedes be that ugly chalky grey plastic is one of life's biggest mysteries. It's amazing how much newer these look with the honeycomb painted black.

    Keep them updates coming!

did some little stuff this weekend. I've always ***** how the faded out grey grill looked on this.

    Old nasty faded.

I had a can of black plasitdip laying around waiting to be used. So I took the grill apart, washed it and let it dry on the driveway. Some lady came by to see my wife and almost ran it over.

So after saving it from a minivan execution, i hung it up to paint.

    yeah crappy shot.

But this is the finished product reinstalled. Looks so much better. I can be happy again. maybe someday it'll run as well.

I saw a w126 sitting at a HUGE salvage and recycle yard this morning (was looking for a high volume fan for the dyno room) Looked like it was in decent condition, paint was good too & thats hard to find in AZ. Immediately thought of this thread. If it's still there next month I might have to pick it up!

Powerstroke is fixed. No more leaks.

I finished working on a Range Rover Classic and got the brakes working again.

I'm going to pull the fuel tank on my Merc and clean it out.

This is what it sounds like with the exhaust cut off right in front of the catalytic converters.

I have a few leaks to fix. mostly the transmission cooler and i think the oil pan is leaking. So next oil change I'll work on those things.

I threw the exhaust together. I cut it off at the catalytic converter and just threw on some down turns.

i didn't take any pictures. it was just throw together so i could take it for a spin. tonight, I'll rip it off again and redo it. I'm thinking straight pipes from the cats out to the back. its surprisingly not too loud.

I would love to, IF the shipping prices weren't that freakin' high..
Stupid-ass TNT express costs like €150-plus to ship a small box to the US

OT: glad to see u got it driving. Especially with your single-pump setup.
Best wheels to go for... Ehrm... just go vintage! Some superwide 16" (with meaty tyres) or 17" should be enough I think.
AMG AERO's or Penta-Stars are always a good bet. Modern AMG's and other 90's-onwards wheels just won't do the trick imho.

I really want to see how this thing is going to be in the end. So you've earned my 60th subscription sir.
