Amateur Hour: '75 2002 Build

Well I am back for the summer and I am hitting the 2002 hard.

Almost done with the welding now, we only have a little bit left on one of the doors. So now I get to have some fun with bondo. What we have left now is just to finish up bondo work (Will take forever) and to put her back together. My brother has hooked it up with a ton of brand new parts for it so putting it back together should be a good time.

Here are some pictures of some of the places we had to weld new metal into.
Firewall was completely rusted through in many places so we basically had to fab up a new one.


Front Fenders are both on.


Here is a shot of the subframe going back together. We got all new bushings and painted everything so its going to be both beautiful and functional.



Here is a shot of the workspace we have. Pretty lucky to have some solid tools and a great place to work.



And on another note, I just picked this up not too long ago. Needs a little work but runs great and is rust free! Plan is to just make it a little more comfortable and then im taking it back to Clemson with me next year.

Looks great so far, those flares are super slick looking. How'd you go about stripping the sound deadening tar off the floor pans? I'm thinking of dry icing them, but it looks like you used a heat gun..?

Just used a head gun and scraped it off with a putty knife which worked pretty well. Took a few hours at the most. Apparently the dry ice method causes it all to crack apart and separate which would be a lot easier than a heat gun if you have that available and want to save some time.

Basically waiting on rear wheel bearings to come in and then it goes to get some bondo work done/ paint.

The good 02 is only featured once in the video... see if you can tell when.

Resurrecting this thread for a long lost update. Its been a long time, and over the last two years we have been making moves, just in a slow fashion as I have been off at college and the older bro has been busy with his new house. The '02 was off in paint for about a year. (Long story but the guy kept putting it off). We finally got it back, and we have been slowly putting it back together. We have the engine in, most of the wiring, and a lot of small pieces here and there. Ill be back for a week this summer, so in that week we are hoping to get the exhaust in, driveshaft in, and possibly get it running. Its getting close and it looks absolutely amazing. Here are some pictures for you guys to drool over. Went with Turkis Blau for the paint and it looks unreal in person, pictures don't do it justice. Anyways, enough talking i'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

OK, Turkis Blau is now officially added to my list of colors I need to paint a car someday.

The way you guys just dived in on this with no experience and are actually getting results is really inspiring. Keep on doin' how you do!
