    Big update!

    New parts:
    Cosworth reverse intake manifold
Wilwood 6/4 pot big brake kit
Cobb 6 speed double adjustable short shifter
    1/2 inch fender bracing
    full 6 speed bushing kit
    Solid motor mounts

Since I last posted on here, lots of good stuff has happened. A buddy of mine let me borrow his cherry picker and game over to give me a hand. We knocked off the rest of the exhaust, dropped the driveline and pulled the motor and tranny in one shot. No problem.

After the motor was out, we separated it from the trans and got it ready to go to it's buyer.
I deleted out the brake booster (I'm not going to be using it) and removed the harness from the firewall as well as the clutch res., etc.

I spent the rest of the time getting the interior the rest of the way gutted. The fold down bench seat in the rear was taken out ( I plan to run four chairs) as well as the carpet and strut tower covers.

The car sat for a weekend and then got loaded up onto a flat bed to go up to the fabricator.

I got these photos today of the front tubs mocked up and I am beyond excited!

And just for fun, here is a teaser of the widebody rear end mocked up on the car:

More updates as I get them!

Very nice build this! It makes me wanna do more on my wagon aswell!

Question, I see that the Odyssey battery is for motorcycles. Is that a problem? Because I'm also looking for a small sealed battery to put in the back.

That might be a bit of an over reaction.

The Odyssey PC680 is widely used for battery relocation because it's small and it can be oriented onto its side. It does NOT meet the cold cranking amps "requirement" that Subaru recommends. If you live in a place that's extremely cold or you use a lot of auxiliary electrical equipment it might not be your best choice. There is a lot of good information about them on NASIOC if you want to read up further.

Pretty much exactly how I feel about most Subarus out there right now. Tired of the same old.

Maybe you don't actually like subarus? Maybe that's why all the changes and indecision. More deep contemplation is required.

I dunno how I missed this thread till just now. Great work!

I feel like your descriptions of the work you do on your car is how everyone on here works on their cars...

It goes from: "This is gonna be easy..." To four hours later, tons of cussing, some busted knuckles, and several thoughts of setting the car on fire... then to, finally-f-ing-done. Then, still not satisfied and f-it i'll do it all over again, but better.

                      Keep up the great work!

PS - yay good job putting lacey on the map :P

I like the platform. I'm just pretty much tired of the 'scene' Too many fanboys putting wheels on their car and getting credit for killing the game. Whatever that means.

Aren't we all a little crazy to be modding? Thanks man!

Yeah man, you nailed it. It always seems like it's going to be so easy.

                        Updates!

Got my 5 speed, 18g and injectors sold today. More money to dump into the hoopty!
Enjoy some updated progress shots from the fab shop. I'm getting excited about how this is turning out.

I'll post more photos as I get them.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm happy to see it progressing in an identifiable way finally!

I just want to say thanks to everyone that's following and checking out my project. It's encouraging to know that I'm not totally out of my mind over here.

I made a trip up to the fab shop on Friday to check out the progress of the car. As of now, the front end looks just about done. There are a couple small things that need to happen, but it's pretty close.

Lots of diversity up at the shop when I went to check everything out.

Next up on deck is the rear tubs and cutting into the body to prep for the widebody to be attached.

I'm working with a buddy of mine who has experience as a bodyshop/paint guy. After the car gets back, I'll be getting the garage turned into a clean area where I can sand it down and prep for the wide body to be attached. Things are looking up!

I was able to get up to Godspeed Fabrication on Friday and check out the progress of my car.

                                Firewall:

                                Rear tubs:

We made a decision on the passenger side rear tub to not cut into the "pocket" that holds and reinforces the fuel filler neck. I wasn't committed to having a custom fuel tank fabbed and fit into the car, so that was our next reasonable option. I'll have to do some work with body filler to take care of the gap and smooth everything out.

For fun, those are 20" wheels with a 315/35/r20 tire. I'm hoping that means I'll be able to comfortably fit 18x12s (19x12s?) all around.

It's looking like the car will be back in my garage at home on Wednesday. I ordered a JDM Version 7 STI 6 speed transmission, r180 rear diff, axels, hubs and drive shaft yesterday, too. That's pretty much it for my budget for this calendar year. Next up is lots of body work to get this thing ready for paint. It's going to be a long winter.
