Chop topped wagon would be pretty rad. It's amazing how people can cut corners and endanger the people in the car.

I took it upon myself to pull the sunroof out of the car yesterday. When I originally pulled the headliner, I had some concerns with the sunroof itself. It tuned out that this was NOT an OEM sunroof. As such, I decided I was going to lose it and have the hole welded and install a spec c roof vent in its place.
I successfully dropped the sunroof acouple nights ago. After it came out, I noticed acouple things:
1) The install job was piss poor. The installer didn't do a good job sealing it against the roof skin and there was a significant amount of rust/rot.
2) Instead of buying an OEM roof skin that is already cut for a sun roof (they're $325.00) the installer hacked up a non sunroof roof skin. This included cutting all but one of the roof supports. When the sunroof came down, the roof skin buckled because of this.
At this point I said fuck it and just pulled the whole roof skin off.
Plans at this point are to order a new roof skin and have it installed with the roof vent.
I'm also seriously debating chopping the roof line down 2" and replacing all the glass with cut to size lexan.

About 90% gutted as of today. I need to finish popping off all of the plastic push tabs and pick up 15lbs of dry ice so I can get rid of all the sound deadening.

Just a quick update -
I'm still alive, and slowly putting thought and time into this project.
On the parts front, I sold the coilovers the car was on. That money will go towards the new air cupped set.
I also finally found a reasonable deal on an ECU/immobilizer with keys/full wiring harness out of an 06 STI. That stuff will sit in the box it came in for quite a while.
Otherwise, almost a year in, I'm feeling myself starting to sputter a little bit. When I read back through the posts, I can see I've accomplished a lot on the car so far. It doesn't always feel that way, though.
I've been spending the past few days focusing on doing some serious organization of all of the parts I have all over the place.
I got a new (big) box for all of my tools, so getting that set up should be helpful. Hopefully I'll be organized and refreshed to hit this project hard in the new year. Hopefully some photos this week for you guys.

I borrowed a friend's wheels yesterday to do a mock up. They're 19x10. I think after seeing this, I'll go with 19x11s and make up any difference with a spacer if necessary.

Got the car parked and settled at the new house. I picked up some wheel dollies so I could move it around without pushing it up and down the damn driveway.
