I guess it's about time I update this...
So I've been busy with school again, Eagle scout project, college admissions, robotics, cross country, concerts, the typical 18 year old shebang. And all in one month. Haven't had much time, but now I have been wrapping those up so I got some stuff done.
Late night work parties:


Trunk sheet metal. Now it is bolted down, and there is a "T" support brace underneath. A bit overkill, but it can hold a body now. :twisted:

I also got all the electrical working. Kind of. Because I don't have the valence turns, I just wired the turn signals to the corner lights as I don't plan on wiring them to parking lights anyways or at least until I get the lower turns. The rear panel works completely, and I just need to wire the wiper, build and wire my new heater core, and then do my dash lights then I'm good. for that. Only one more patch panel needs to be welded and I have been meaning to do that, so soon. Then driving videos.

In other news, and it sub-freezing temperatures, I helped remove the drivers side front on my friends E21 320is. Well, tried. I'm sure you guy's know the pain of trying to remove the ball joints and struts on these suckers. Not to mention he snapped the disk off of the gland nut, so it's stuck and we're gonna have to weld a piece of bar steel on to pull it out. Anyone have any tips for removing the bolt that attached the control arm to the frame? I don't actually know where it's attached to, I just know it won't come out enough, it's hitting the boot for the steering.

Right now my plan is mechanical engineering. ASU polytech has an automotive engineering specified mechanical engineering BS, so that's my #1 plan right now. I am also applying for Georgia Tech and U of Michigan, U of Washington, and a few others.

The welder isn't actually mine, it's the guy I work for's. Hobart Handler 120, great machine.

thats great man. sounds like you got some priorities lined up. i'm stuck in between going the mechanical engineering route(i **** math; i can do it just not as quick as some) and just doing something else. right now i'm going to a technical school kind of and in the first year you get two state certs. and i can probably go work at discount tire or something while i'm 18 and figure out what i really want to go to school for. it sucks because i have no guidance. none of my parents went to college and they both have decent paying jobs lol. but that good for you man!

I actually just started Mechanical Engineering and I can tell you, while the math really sucks, overall its very interesting and rewarding. Also my school has a SAE Formula team so I get to learn more about SolidWorks, design, simulation, testing, manufacture, ect... so I like it a lot. Also here in Montreal school is crazy cheap, plus I live at home, so I dont have to sell my car

Congrats on the college acceptance man! Im actually a junior in high school building a car so I now the feeling ...My pops is a Mechanical Engineer over at Ford (for over 20 years). He went to Lawrence Tech which is a big Engineering school in Michigan. But if you wanna do some type of of engineering in the automotive industry the Metro Detroit Aera is certainly the place to be! I'm starting on it, I have to finish it and turn in the paperwork, then finish a bit more work before Feb 21st...Fun...All while doing college apps, scholarship notebook, AND schoolwork, and most importantly my car.
