I know the struggle! Keep at this car man. If I was closer I'd be there every day I could helping on it!
Yeah thanks, I'll figure out stuff in a bit. Probably won't be at the meet Sunday, I'm gonna try and show up to the greenwood with my friend and his Yugo he is soon getting. Maybe. If not I want to try and go to PSTOC whenever it is, if it is happening.

No shame in living at home.

When people ask, I just say it's a cultural thing. Since I'm japanese and white(I look super white though, and colleges/trade schools think I'm joking) the cultural excuse works. Bringing girls home is a nightmare though.

Any progress on the celica? I would love to be showered in weed.
Wouldn't we all, but not when it affects reputation. Vashon is the brunt of almost all of the jokes, but we finally got a blue ribbon award so we da best.

As far as the car...well... electrical problems out of the bootay. I might just rewire everything with toggle switchs, because NOTHING works, besides the ignition and tach, and fuel gauge. OH well, shouldn't be too difficult.

And floor pans need welded. Eventually. More pics later

      How it sits right now:

Put in a seat, minus one seat mount that needs to be re-welded

16 gauge metal, ready fo' floor pans!

And I did a thing. Ever since I saw the Hakosuka Skyline/Nissan Sunny hybrid, I thought 'how cool would it be to have a Celica ute?'

I'm only 21 so I feel dumb saying this haha. BUT when I was your age I had an e28 and I sold it because I didn't have the money parents where mad about it sitting in the garage blah blah blah

I **** my self every day for it. Cause after 3 years the car would have been decent, and as of a year ago I would have started having the money I needed to do everything I wanted.

Just keep on it and don't give up.

As for the rust... save your money and buy a MIG that should be the next thing you buy (in my opinion)

Take a look at my old build, not trying to hijack by any means... but I did ALOT of rust repair with just patience and a MIG

Post your build threads here! Keep us updated on what you're doing in your garage.

Hey thanks, yeah, I am planning on it. A whole lot cheaper than paying someone to weld it, and with 16 gauge I don't even know if I'm gonna shape it, it's pretty strong already

            Another update:

A while ago I mocked up a quick seat mount. I also cut the drivers side outer seat mount off, It needed welding underneath.

Well some stuff got done. First I cut the wheel well, somewhat. Just got all the rust out to figure out where to cut next. I am just going to put 18 Gauge sheet metal over, bolt it on and seam seal it. That way I can choose what I want to do later on.

Then, I discovered something. I pulled the quarter panels off, and started removing the plastic sheeting. As I started finishing the passenger side, I noticed something; golf balls! So far off of this car I have earned 3 remotes, 7 golf balls, and a CB radio antenna. Worth it.

THEN I cut my 16 gauge floor metal. I think it will be sturdy enough without any beads put in.

            Also removed the tank.

            That's all folks

Well, it's summer. More time for this project, more time for eagle scout.

So first when cutting metal I started just using a basic Jig saw. It did it's job, and cut. Then I borrowed a recip. tip for a air compressor to try that for tighter spaces. The blades were thin, broke easily, and I gave up after it took two whole blades to chop out the rest of the wheel well.

Then I decided to take out the scary oscillating cutter I got three years ago on Christmas and give that a try.

                Brilliant.

It cut through 16 gauge no problem, could probably cut through thicker too. Plus, it's so versitile! The blade did crack eventually, but It's still usable and easier to control in tight spaces.

Anyways, here are some updated pictures. Cut out passenger floor pan, moc'ed up a new one with the 16 gauge, and cut the main problem areas of the rocker.

I am also working on repairing my dash.

Oh cool! Glad you are using a better saw now, and will have more time for it

                      Update yooo:

Went up to Port Angeles and got a few parts B)B)B)B)B)B)B)

I'm not JUST a Celica fan

CB Radio, cause why the hell not?

                      And my needed taillight

Finally, the main reason. I could not pass this deal up and bought it, even though I either won't use it right away or at all

The only crack, about 1inch/2inch long

Just what I have been doing lately; Got a MIG with Argon shielding gas, did my first couple welds and messed around with the settings, and worked on my carpentry skills by rebuilding a floor for the guy I work for.

Not bad for a first timer!

I guess staring at wire diagrams for long enough gives you information you need. I finally figured out all of the wiring, and now all that is delaying me is floor work and a piece of sheet metal for the trunk

What I was up to last week: Sailing for Boy Scouts

                              Headlights at work:

                              Tail lights at work:

I also made a thing from an old Apple G5 aluminum case.

So... This is the backup switch, which I had the hardest time finding. It was covered in rust, and as you can see, the two pegs are VERY broken. Now I need to buy another.

I was hoping to have it ready on the 21st, as that would make it one year old, but oh well. Then I was trying for the first day of school but I am going on a cruise to Alaska so that pushed it back a bit. September 17th is the new deadline!

                              -Tanner
