After getting all the plastics prepped it was time for some primer then colour, I didn't take any pics during the priming as it's not the most interesting of things but I did however get some pics of the trims after getting a couple of coats of colour down. The trims that are still in primer in the last pic will be sprayed gloss black to tie in with the roof.

Today has been a very busy day with non stop spraying and smiling. Managed to get all the plastics painted, clear coated and the orange bits flaked aswell. This is essentially all of the spraying work complete. I've also gone with some detailing on the mirrors that I think sets them apart from any other mirrors out there. The only spraying that may happen at the end is another couple of coats of clear to flat back and polish up even more. The final clear coat will depend on how much of a shine I get from the colour sanding and polishing that has already been done. If it gives a show winning shine with what i've already done, brilliant, if not then I can add some more clear coat and keep polishing it until I'm 100% happy. Also, the pressure is now on to get this finished, the tax runs out on my daily '36 at the end of this month (august'13) and I have no intentions of re-taxing it so this has got to be complete and on the road in 16 days. Some people may think its a big task, I don't , ive got some good mates that are always on hand when needed and i've got my father who is an absoulute guru when it comes to getting things done properly.
These are the mirror's masked up for the black detailing in the center.
The mirror's after spraying the black , I think it adds a lot more depth to the mirrors and ties in well with the other black detailing.
Here's all the plastic's laid out ready to be clear coated to give them that the shine.
The bumpers clear coated, next up is the orange metal flake.
My mix of clear coat and my ready measured out metal flake.
Really doesn't look so impressive when its mixed up but the end result is worth it.
All the plastics sprayed , clear coated and the orange plastics flaked.
That's my dad in this pic, he's been here from start to finish making sure all the fabrication work and spraying is the best it can be, he's not a sprayer either but has an incredible talent for making things look sick. He's currently in the process of shipping a '67 mustang fastback over from Idaho to restore.
Fallen in love with these Mirrors!

Due to lack of space in the garage, the panel's are resting in nans garden again overnight.
Final pic of the day to give you a true insight into how the arches etc bring out the rear of the car.
Big Day Tomorrow, Re-Assembly, Lets Get It Done!
Had an awesomely productive day today, went to put the bumpers on and as with every custom job there were a few issues with the archwork, nothing major it just needed filing back slightly on the edges to stop it catching on the rubstrips. Managed to get bumpers and rubstrips on properly, also fitted the fog's and m3 evo splitter to the front bumper, loving how fresh it looks. All the plastic trims are on around the window's etc.. the only things left to do now are to drill the sill's and mount the sideskirts, get the brand new brembo disks and pads fitted in every corner, get my KW Variant 1 coilover's on and finally wet sand the entire car with 2000grit sandpaper by hand, and then polish the hell out of it. Also , wheels have been ordered today and they will be with me monday, they're not 10j's as I originally stated but they are a low offset 18x9.5 square setup, I will still run a staggered setup as spacers will still be required so will space the rear more and have it stanced properly. Not long now guys.
Extremely happy with the amount of work that gone done today, This is how she's staying until Sunday.

Today was brake day – Sunday 18/08/13
Managed to get all four corners off cleaned and replaced within a 2 hour slot, thats including my nan overfuelling us on coffee/tea and sausage rolls. I've only taken one pic of the new brakes fitted as we all know how boring a job brakes are. It seemed as though the old ones hadn't been changed since 1st registration of the car in 1995, nothing a big hammer and some hulk strength couldn't fix though. The disks and pads that have gone on the car are Brembo disks and pads all the way around , grooved drilled and vented fronts and vented rears.
This is my strange looking mate Chris Wood who has built a show winning 2 tone mkIV Golf previously, now driving a TT. Chris has been back and forth throughout the build helping out wherever he can and helping things get done to a tighter timescale. I'm not a fan of brakes so he took the reigns on this one.
Monday 19/08/13 – 12 days until Deadline
Haven't made it down to the car today but a delivery man turned up at my door with 4 big parcels this morningWheel's have turned up , not bad at all considering I only ordered them on Thursday.
If you hadn't already guessed, the wheels I've ordered are 'Japan Racing Wheels', they seem to do a lot of race inspired rimmage from bbs rc's to rota grid/drift style wheels. The wheel's I have chosen are the 'JR10's, not expecting them to be to everyone's taste but they fit the criteria I want from a wheel and this car. They look like a racing wheel which ties in with the whole wide arch concept, they've got dish to grab the attention of you scene whores and get you excited and they're also slightly concaved. The fitment is18x9.5 et18 in a square setup. The fronts should sit pretty flush straight out of the box and the rears are going to need some spacers to really sit right , im currently thinking the rears will probably sit at around -et20. The tyres are going to be a staggered setup again to help with stancing the car correctly, thinking of a 225/40 up front and either a 235/40 or 245/40 in the back, may even test fit a 255/35 to see how wide she looks. Its brilliant having a tyre company owner as a pal, anyhow, here's a pic I took of the wheel in my front room. Not the best but you get the idea.

Love all the work man. Nice job. I gotta say I'm not really feeling the arches though. Hopefully you can change my mind but no way 18x9.5 +18 will be anywhere near flush in the front. Expect needing fat spacers all around. The arches look super wide and will really need to be filled out to pull them off IMO.
