Messing around a bit in photoshop to try to get my bed proportions down:
Overall length of a long bed is 101 inches front to back. This would be 87 inches total. I would take roughly 7 inches off behind the wheel arch and about 7 inches off in front of the wheel arch. I used the ruler tool to measure how many pixels from front to back then set it to scale in inches and remeasure with the new lengths. What do you guys think? Here is long, mid, and short for reference:
I think the short beds look like chodes.
Anyways, drivetrain and rad core and inner fenders are off. Window tracks and vent window rebuild pretty much done and patched some more rust. Updates in the next few days. Thanks for the kind words everyone.Ryan

Yeah I will matte clear it at some point when its on the road. There is a decent amount of bare metal showing on the bed. Thanks man!
Patched some rust today and made some more progress. Also polished some water spots out of my glass with some guidance from Mr. Dave. I think I should be ready to cut the frame up pretty soon. Just need to work out geometry and stuff. If anyone has any recommendations I would love to hear them.Ryan

I wasn't so much worried about shortening as I am about the z and getting my suspension geometry right. And I need to figure out what to do on the front to get it to lay out. I'd like to swap a subframe in from something else to get all my disc brakes and power steering rack done at once.I just don't know what to use. Porterbuilt makes a bolt in solution but I would like to make something else work.Ryan

I love how the paint turned out on this! I want an old truck now...
As far as the bed goes I would leave it as is. I love the patina you have going on and it would be a shame to have weld lines down the sides of the bed and it would also be a shame to paint it.
If you're set on cutting the bed up, I would get another bed to do it to. Then you would still have the original with the original paint.

the CV clip is 34" wide (bolt hole centers.) The problem on some older trucks is the track width is much narrower. 03+ CV hub to hub is like 67.5". Pre 03 is about 4" narrower but has to be welded in as a clip.

You should definitely make a thread so I get get some ideas from you. I feel like there are a ton of different ways to do it.Ryan

You can see he had to notch the frame for the strut towers. He used a mustang steering rack (haven't found any more info on it.)
A quick search I found that guys are pancaking the front crossmember:
to gain disc brakes you can swap a 73-87 front crossmember:
sorry, never really played with a c10 before (although i wouldn't mind finding one)
