Its been a weekend of no updates so heres where I'm at.

That was Friday evening. Then Saturday I took the rest of the wiring loom out and off the engine while labelling it all and a few bits that I had left on the car. And I was going to put the engine up on my engine stand but didn't have the right 12 point bit to get the pressure plate and flywheel bolts off.

Only a few problems so far. The bell housing was missing a bolt to the engine. and so was the gearbox mount brace, the plug for the reverse light switch was missing. Found the bare wires just tucked up in the loom. So someone has done a crap job of changing the clutch at some point in its life. And I found this.

A nice big crack in the bell housing. Not sure how far it extends. Might be able to get it welded up if it goes no further. Maybe they dropped it when changing the clutch? Who knows.

And today I went and bought some 12 point bits to take the clutch off. Looks pretty worn and the duel mass flywheel seems to have a lot of play in it. Pretty sure its not supposed to be like that. BIN!

Lots of cleaning to do now. Looks like the valve cover gasket has been leaking for a while.

Rear wiper fixed today. Works better than ever. The wire must have been wearing pretty thin for a while. Really fast now I've soldered it.

And I started stripping the Mk4. I'm liking the project so far. Taking things apart is always fun though.

Managed to finaly get my vag com cable working on the mk4 too. Haven't used it in a while! No fault codes so I am free to take the engine out. Might get cracking on it tomorrow. Hopefully I will have no codes on it when it goes back into its new home too.

Been neglecting this thread a bit. But I haven't had any updates to make. But the car might be coming off the road next month for some tidying up. We will see.

Small update for you anyway. Finally got myself a 16v key with light and cover. Brand new and original

    Thanks!

Got these fitted a couple of days ago but it took me a few days to edit these pictures. But here you go. Very very very happy with the look now.

The wheels are different because I swapped the old rears to the front and then rebuilt the old fronts with 1.5 inch dishes for the rear. Now I have 8j all round. And I painted the centres while they where off the car.
Took 40mins including sitting in traffic to get the the tyre place to get the get the tyres off to get the first wheel split. Good effort.
