    Less of a boring update.

Bought the rest of the stuff I need to make the cruise control work as I found out that the system isn't specific to mk2s or even VWs. Audi a8s, b5 passats, jag xj6, range rover p38 are some that use all the same parts. Hence a lot cheaper.
So I got a range rover vacuum pump and servo and some passat pedal switches. The loom and control module I already had from a mk2 though.

I just need to find somewhere to mount the pump. Make a bracket to fit the servo to my manifold and throttle body as I cant find a 16v one anywhere, Make up the bits of the loom that go to the pump and switches, and then maybe fab somewhere to mount the clutch switch because I don't think there is a hole as standard on the rhd pedal assemblies for the clutch. But I haven't looked yet.

    Thanks man!

Turns out I didn't manage to calibrate the speedo. The spring that I released doesn't really matter where you put it back on as its only to counteract the friction plate that is rubbing against the other friction plate that the speedo cable is spinning.
So no matter how many turns of preload I thought I was putting on the spring. It always just span the shaft back round.

So turns out the spring on the 140mph clocks is a lower poundage, hence the higher MPH reading.
Stuck the old odometer unit back in the clocks and it reads fine but the odometer on that one doesn't work. lol. So i'm going to try and swap the spring over to the new odometer unit. Will see how that goes.

I go into too much detail

Bought a few bits to make a little install in my boot, in the corner. Little baby subwoofer.

Hmmmm it didn't start a minute ago. My problem may be back

But I am fairly certain that I have managed to calibrate my speedo through trial and error. But seems to not want to decelerate very easily. Seems to get stuck. Not sure if I just didn't notice this before. Any of my fellow mk2 owners want to have a look at theres and see if it does?

Changed the fuel filter. Obviously a pain the ass. But the overall condition of the fuel pump/filter/accumulator unit looks very good. Which is quite surprising due to what peoples normally look like.
Seems to have solved my issue. But only tried starting it twice with one half hour gap. Looks promising but we will see.
The fuel that came out of the filter was filthy (just look at the picture!). So defiantly needed a new filter anyway.

Finally managed to get hold of a CE1 fuse box air con plug. Swapped it for my CE2 plug. Not that exciting.

Another thing that isn't that exciting. I bought some shelves for down at my unit to tidy it up. So now there isn't just junk everywhere.

    Before

    After

And My 17 inch RS have finally sold so I built them up and couldn't resist a few pictures

    Then packaged up and gone

Maybe your new clock needs a different cable to work correctly.

Is it always a certain percentage off or is it always 30 mph over what you're going?
Faster you go the more off it gets. So I'm pretty sure its the spring preload that is causing it. Because I prised it off when changing the odometer unit in it.

Nothing else changed. So wont be cable.
