  • So, back in the days, I had purchased some new STERN engine mounts for the 1.8T on the A4 chassis

Let's put them to good use then

Remember this. Yes, it still exists.

These, also unused parts, will come in handy

Hasnt seen some fuel for quite some time

A great boot for shopping groceries

Actually so good, that you can actually see from above when you are lifting the car

Let's lift the front end as well, so that it wont complain much

    Up up up and away

    A not so lowered A4/RS4

    Dat wheel fitment doe

Let's lift the engine one bit

Thing is I didnt have the 1.8T engine on the car, so I decided I'd settle with what was inside at that time

    Will require some spacers then

    Passenger side

    Driver Side

Clearence from the back- me likey

Clearence from the front- me gonna build new front end

    Cheers more to come

        • So, I had some goodies delivered from my friend's machine shop, the wood spacers transfered in metal.

          Modified my initial billet spacers

Installed to see how it looks

          And it looks good

          Passenger side

          Clearence from the back

So engine mounts are pretty much complete for now I guess- we will know for sure when we tighten everything up

Also checked how transmission is sitting -pretty much where we want it to sit

Also from inside the car, things are looking good

no passenger was there to agree with me

Also, on a quick test fit, the filter location seems to clear our spacer which is a bonus

          More to come

          Cheers

          • Started moving my garage to the garage where the Audi is located more or less

Did some more work today ..... eeeeeeer more like talking and measuring I guess

Gearbox height is being finalized more or less

So plans are that we begin on the transmission mount

This is the OEM one from Audi

Pieces of puzzle and let the games begin

While we are working on this, I am also trying to source a rear Supra diff - YET AGAIN - because I sold the one I got before, the one from Titan Motorsports. Oh well.

Till that happens we can work on gearbox mount, as well as fabricating a new front end for bumper, headlights, radiators, etc. , and also I can start installing the roll cage maybe.

So, more to come, stay tuned guys

            Cheers

            • So, my friend from Corleone Garage, started making some drawings on the pc

              Things escalated quickly

              Almost done

Round edges for the gearbox mount

I also left my new daily and grabbed the mighty subaru to carry some RS4 parts needed for our next steps

Let's find some hidden parts in my garage - there's one

              Looks pretty nice

              Found my headlights

And also my swiss cheese "crash" bar

So, do you remember my Wiechers roll cage, dressed in alcantara ? Well neither do I. It has been some time.
However I was tired of seeing it in my house and decided to put it where it belongs

Installed some more parts to make some measurements

There is no such thing as too much space available - bumper aka roof spoiler for now

Then a turtle showed up to remind me how slow this build has been

I told her things are going fast now, but she wouldnt believe me

Front assembly is ready for measurements

Stay tuned - more material to follow

              Cheers guys

              • More drawings were made tonight

Plan is to copy the shifter tower

                But in an extended version

These will be machined propably from scratch

I will also have to start cutting parts from the front end to begin test fitment

Things are better than we would have guessed

                Aint so bad after all

                More to come

                Cheers

                  • So, lost no time and started cutting yet more parts of my car

                    Removed

                    Before - blocking

Now front end can be bolted in place to go for further measurements

Started bringing more roll cage parts

                    Installation kit

Everythng was dressed in alcantara if you recall

Started by opening free the tabs to see where they sit roughly

I figured I'd better start installing it, since this wasn't very fixed in place - lol

                    Started getting somewhere

I am pretty sure interior will be crazy once I finish it.

Played with my wheels a bit, pretty sure, we will be staying 245 in front

However, I am currently having difficulty in sourcing a rear diff - supra, dodge viper maybe. If anyone can help let me know

                    Cheers

                    more to come

                    • Started putting more cage parts in place, and bolted everything in place

The smile on my face after we installed this

Then I needed to make measurements where to drill to bolt these

Still unsure of where large (darker) plates are used

                      INstalled one leg

                      Rest will follow

                      Cheers more to come

                      • Finally made it through all 24 pages of this. I must say though when you were parting out the 1.8 I felt a little sad. Not because you were getting rid of the Audi heart, but because it seemed like the whole car was going to be parted out even though you clearly stated it wasn't. So happy to see this build still chugging along.

                          • Found the cam gear that was hiding

Gotta check for clearances for the forthcoming front part fabrication

                            Red lines indicate cutting marks

What is more, some parts that my friend designed, appeared in our garage in the flesh

                            Such a lovely feeling

These three brackets are to be welded to reinforce the structural integrity of the mount

Oem Toyota hardware, plus Audi hardware, plus custom hardware

Toyota gearbox mount will sit like this in situ

                            Let's see

                            Very pleased with results

                            More to come

                            Cheers

                              • More updates then.

Found this in my garage- which looks familiar to be honest

                                Oh yes, now i remember

This amazing way to keep the hood open by Vi's Engineering i think we can even sell these

Good thing is that the hood could close in place with engine in situ

Then it was angle grinder time - yeap that's me with my favourite tool

                                Marked

I knew I was more into surgical specialties rather than medical oncology

                                Removed

                                Leaving us with this

Grabbed the OEM piece as a template

And then my friend from Corleone Garage, aka "the tall" made something out of nothing

                                Hmmm that looks good

Just a template for some measurements

Things were better than we hoped

Minor issues that can be sorted mostly.

Then I cut some more parts from the lower part of the front structure - will get to that later

Time to throw on the RS4 bumper to check some things

Tom and the Tall were happy needless to say

                                And so was I

                                Look at that

Lots of room for radiator stuff it seems. we shall see

I know there is A LOT of work ahead of us, but seeing the car like this after all this time, surely makes me smile

                                Cheers

                                Mike
