  • SoFlo W115 Mercedes Benz

So after looking for months (and pretty much seeing most of the w114/w115's on here) i finally got mine

    Its a 1976 Mercedes-Benz 240D. 90k Original and documented miles. Mint.

    Plans:
    - Lower it (cut springs for now)
    - Modify the huge US Spec bumpers to fit more snug and clean
    - Pre facelift steering wheel with the chrome ring OR Nardi 390

I plan on cutting the springs within the next week or so but i'd love for w115 owner to chime in and tell me how many coils to cut off to get at a nice safe static height.

    On to the pics...

When i first brought it home about a month ago

Next to the MKIV 337 daily

Detailed it, someone at a local VW meet snapped this pic of it

I wonder if they are a direct fit, if they are ill look into it for the future

Euro bumpers or even pre facelift bumpers require modification and custom fab work to fit. But i'll make something happen, eventually lol

90 THOUSAND MILES HUH? Alright. Real jealous.

                        Spring cutting is easy:
Grind 50-70% through the spring, then bounce on the car and it'll snap and you'll be safely standing on top of the car. Cut out the excess.

So i attempted to do the front springs today and ended up in an epic fail

i unbolted the sway bar end link, unbolted the shock, and when i was unbolting the ball joint to drop the control arm the bolt didn't come all the way out because it stopped on something. The ball joint nut was almost completely off the bolt so the control arm should've at least gone down some but i took a sledge hammer to it and it didn't even move

Am i doing it right? Or is there another easier way to do it
