Got me some 4-pot V8 brakes for a steal! Came complete with hubs, sensors and lower control arms!
Got them all disassembled for sandblasting (Rotors, pads and bushings will be replaced )
After 10 months of sitting in the back of the shed, I've finally found some time to start on the engine swap.
I've bought a 300CE coupe with manual 5-speed Getrag tranny (without the dogleg tho) from some retard kid.
Paid the kid €350,- for it. LOL
Ok, it didn't run when I bought it. But after a quick check up on the engine i found out that the fuel pump wasn't working. Eventually it appeared to be a dead relay of the fuel pump. Had that one laying around from the previous parts-car. so that was an easy one for me
The rest of the car is shit. It may appear otherwise on the photo's, but trust me, it is completely worn out apart from the drivetrain. Compression on the engine is like new on all six cylinders (all 13.0 bar) and the transmission and clutch are sublime.
Differential is an ASD-one, so it's electro-hydraulic controlled up to 100% lock (15% lock when pressure is off)
I messed around with the coupe by cutting springs and doing tractor style exhaust and stuff. Just for shits and giggles:
Even Nature loved it
Anyhow, let's do this.
The plan is;
remove old 2.6 12v engine, tranny and diff from the grey sedan. Sell usable parts.
remove the old subframe, rebuild it with new rubbers and bushings and stuff
remove the 3.0 12v engine, tranny and diff from the black coupe
clean up 3.0 engine, transmission and diff, change fluids and tackle some oil leaking issues on the engine
fit everything into the the grey sedan
remove usable parts from the coupe and sell if possible
scrap the coupe
be a happy camper
Another fun part of dismantling your 2nd hand vehicle:
discovering hidden damages from the PO's
Never a car from Belgium again...
removed the front wings and bumper because I know i'd probably damage or scratch them if I didn't.
2.6 12v drivetrain is now drained from al its fluids. labeled all the wires, plugs, hoses and lines and disconnected them
It has been a while since I've updated this thread.
The Benz is still waiting for it's engine transplant. So I'll start on so me updates on the 2-pillar car lift I bought a while ago
My brother-in-law got all the wiring done to make it work. While he was at it, he made some preparations to fit some extra's on the lift later on, like lights and switch plugs.
I did some paint and maintenance on the lift.
Then we made a first test 'flight'
First up was my brother-in-laws C4 Vette:
Then we added some extra 400 pounds:
and final test; another 900 pounds extra:
And at last, two weeks ago, we installed the extra lights and switch plugs on each pillar. Which is nice when the only spare time you got to work on cars is at night:
Next up: Making some money and buying moar Benz's...
Engine is down. It's pulsating through the intake manifold... LOL
Problably due to the intake valve seals not closing properly. And this engine sucks arse so I'm not planning an overhaul for the cylinder head.
Right now, I'm still looking for the right priced M103 3.0 fitted w124 wich I can use for parts.
Also made a to-do list:
ENGINE:
- engine swap 3.0 12v (EFI + Turbo eventually?)
- Basic rebuild (head, valves, vale stem seals, rockers, cam, CIS-E etc. etc.
- Side pipe cut-out valve.
WHEELS:
- restoring the EVO's (almost forgot about them)
- selling the EVO's
- restoring the 500E 8-hole's (as they are a tad rough around the edges)
- selling the 500E 8-holes
- restoring the Brabus Monoblocks (rotting away somewhere)
- selling the Brabus Monoblocks
- Restoring the RW rafala's: flat-gold centers, polished lips.
- NOT SELLING the RW's
- fitting 205-45-17's around
- 20 mm Spacers up front
TRANS:
- 5-speed Getrag (dogleg, if possible)
- ASD differential (Manual-override when the time comes)
SUSPENSION (I'm not very consistant with this...)
- FRONT: BMW E36 front struts
- REAR: Ford Ranger front shocks
- cutting coils on current Eibachs
- complete overhaul rear subframe (PU bushings?)
- OEM V8 / 3.2 / 3.0-24v Brake upgrade (4-pots front, 2-pot rear)
BODY:
- PRIUS II rear 'diffuser' --> yes I said it... THE STOCK ONE! not the one on google
- New boot lid (got hit by tractor)
- Spoiler delete
- Fiesta XR2i fogs
- Rolling rear fenders/weld on some front fender arches in the rear.
- US driving lights
- US indicator ligts/corners
INTERIOR:
- 3rd brake light (pre-89 models have none)
- Central locking system on remote
- 500E rear seats
- Electric windows rear
- Seat heating rear seats
- Electic sunshade rear window
- Tucked sub in the parcel shelf
- A proper steering wheel (Nardi or some sorts)
- Some VIP goodies
- Tint rear window
This is how she sits right now, collecting dust:
*sigh...*
Not sure how long it will take and how much I will be able to complete, but we'll see...
Just let me know if I should add or delete something
Dug out the hole for the concrete floor. Tomorrow we'll start on the wooden framework and concrete armouring
Still no idea why my dad opted for the paved floor in the fist place when they built the barn
I'm sorry, but I have no updates on the Benz yet. Although, I did bring the 300E to the scrapyard because I have stripped it completely.
tadaa!:
so, ByeBye!
And I got myself a new DD for cheap. For the people overseas: It is a Renault Mégane 1.5 DCi Diesel VAN. It's French, squeeks and rattles in every corner, but runs very cheap: It runs 4.5L/100km's. Thats 52 MPG in US-spec !!!
Aaaaand I finally got myself a 2-column car lift. SCORE!
