started on the bay this past weekend and made good progress. I also sealed up the firewall with a radius that follows the rain tray.

M20 is definitely the way to go. I am gonna cut up my nose and see if I can fit an e30 radiator in

Im still alive, but the 2002 isn't.
I ended up getting in to the swap too far and the car lost its worth to me. It was already a sketchy car underneath but after cutting the firewall, it was just too much. I ended up parting it out and getting another shell for $400!... which was more rusted and sketchy than the last.
2 weeks ago I finally bought a 99% rust free '02 and it was well worth the money. It has a fully rebuilt m10 with a mild cam, vintage Stahl headers, full vintage ansa performance exhaust and a TON of extra parts. My plans originally were to just leave it very oem+ but what's the fun in that. I'm going to go with mk1 fenders all around and the coils from the last car. its time for a proper car that looks just as good underneath as it does on top. fitment and low is important but drivability is key.

Sad to hear the second shell ended up not being so good =( Are you finding number 3 anytime soon?

It was originally a 1975 2002 California car and made its way over to Rhode Island in 1992. Since then, it hasn't been on the road. it wasn't very lonely over the years though. Next to it sat a black on grey e30 m3 that has been sitting for 3 years and a 1978 Toyota fj40 that has been sitting for 8. all of them still clean and mostly rust free...but not for long if not stored properly. I tried to buy the m3 but the owner had no desire to part with it or work on it. Unfortunately it will most likely sit on grass for a few more years and soon be bit by automotive cancer. Its sad to watch a car be ruined by neglect but I gave him my number just incase he ever changes his mind (fingers crossed).

Just a small pile of the extra parts that came with the car.

I decided to tackle the trim and molding first. It will be completely trim free and other than door handles, it should be smooth as glass.

I plan on cleaning up the front fenders from my last 02 which have the VW mk1 fender flares and mounting them up front to save the MINTY stock fenders that have no rust. It should also save me some time.
