  • Most of my ideas end up with a car, big metal chain, and welding it to a work bench. I mean you could always weld a tab, but might as well just make a clean cut around it at the bottom pull it out and reweld it. I would try a lot more heat and something strapped to the slide weight (like a sledge hammer) 02's suck. If you do weld it, make sure you take your time and get a nice seam and have it perfectly straight. I would grind down the weld after that and weld a collar around the point you welded, just to be positive... if you're not 100% on your welding.

    • So after spending 9 hours straight on the 02 today, I managed to nearly finish the driver side rear fender. The rear fenders take so much time to make smooth and look right. I also sanded down the back of the car and layed a few coats of primer. With h2oi officially 60 days away, I'm going to need to push hard to finish her. More work to be done tomorrow night after work.

          • I got some more work done on saterday but then my appendix decided to rupture. After spending a few days in the E.R. I get to go home today. I was told to take it easy and relax for a few days, but I can't promise the doctor anything. And he never said I couldn't work on a car.

            • That's kind of a bummer. Remember that Doogie Houser episode where Wanda's appendix burst and Doogie had to save her? That's the first thing I thought of.

I really like the idea of the flat green with copper accents, and I think this car will pull it off. Good luck!

the rear fender needs a little more work but I'm happy with the progress. I also managed to weld in the sunroof and get the trunk lid finished. I dropped the driveshaft today to replace the clutch. Surprisingly there were no stubborn bolts. tomorrow I can pull the tranny and swap out the clutch.

                          • All moved in. A couple friends and I decided to rent out a old mill to keep all of our projects in one place. I love the size of the building and the rustic feel it has.

Across the building, a square tail is awaiting a restoration. kind of weird that 2 76 2002s are under the same roof.
