Got the front passinger fender mounted today.



Needs more welding. these +3 degree nights are making it hard to work on cold cement floors.



Should be able to get another half inch out of it with a roll and pull.

Lately it has been flux core. Surprisingly it has been penetrating very well.

Very interesting! Although you may want to invest in a decent gas MIG welder. Even one from Harbor Freight (Hobart Welders). It will honestly make your life so much easier and your car much prettier with less grinding work.

HF welders are not made by Hobart. I have a Hobart 140 and it is WAY better then any POS MIG machine HF sells.
But you really should invest in a good welder if you are doing this much welding. Ones you weld with a good machine you will wonder why you ever used a shity one. Worlds apart.
These guys always have free shipping on Hobart machines. They are great DIY MIG welders. I have the 140 and love it.

Yeah I'm using a old hobart (made years before I was born) 120 and it's till kicking/handling everything I give it. You can find the 120s on craigslist for like $50-150, highly recommend hobart anything over hf.

What ever you get, you want a MIG that lets you adjust the wire speed and power separately. You also want those two knobs to have a good bit of adjustment so that you can comfortably weld thicker and thinner metals. With my 140 I can do body work, and with a bit of preheating I can weld some super thick stuff together as well.

"Klokkerholmusa" is the name if the website. They have some good parts and killer prices. $25 per fender was the deciding factor.

The little dimples in the MK1 fenders are normal for some reason. All of mine had them in the exact same spots. Those rears fenders look interesting, a little too radical for my taste but I'm sure they'll look cool. Keep it up!

They're probably for those plastic covers that go over them/

I have been pretty busy lately outside the garage but I should get back in there tomorrow. I can't keep my mind wondering what would be the best swap to power this car in the future. Feel free to voice your opinion.

Great work, i just picked up a Hobart Handler 140 and can't wait to widen some fenders!

If it were my car, i would be looking at either sr20, 4age, and if you have some cash, the f20c is probably the best 4cyl in the world.
