Aesthetically, they would need to be sand blasted. If they're something special and you don't need 30 bucks, keep em. If they're just stock, your next 2002 will probably come with brakes. But they can always be rebuilt one way or another.

knowing me i will probably buy one that has been sitting for a while, and 2002s are notorious for seizing, and having the master cylinder go bad when they sit, im hoping the master is ok on this one as it was working beginning of this summer

not a huge update, but these came in today
no clue why one is gold, but i like it, I decided to keep the old calipers and i will try my hand at rebuilding them

on an un related note BFI wants to give me a free oil change, i called and apparently it is actually free, like 0 money.

if only they knew how far over 250,000 i am, probably somewhere mid 3s by now
still looks pretty good for a 300+ mile car whit no grill

hey, so i havnt done anything to this in a while, its been cold and rainy and i need a garage

anyways this weekend i am going to try to get some work done on it, and after that is thanksgiving break so if I'm not in a food coma from mr.turkey then i will get some work knocked out

something tells me that even a rat rod would have even better build quality. I guess the man loves self-tapping sheet metal screws and reflective road signs. This car was salvageable.

What you fail to understand is that it would be beyond a waste of money to repair this POS.

I've done a lot of the work on this car. The amount of rust damage and body straightening needed is ridiculous.

Like most of the other comments, I'm not really sure how to feel on this build. On the one hand I'm glad to see that this car wasn't scrapped, the early 1602's are getting harder and harder to come by. At the same time, it's kinda painful to look through some of the 'repairs' that were done. I would say my '02 was pretty close to the same condition when I first got it, but it's well on it's way to recovery now.

In the end all that really matters is that your getting enjoyment out of it. Just make sure it's safe to drive for you, your passengers, and the other people out on the road with you.

i would love to do something like this, and make a real rat rod, but keep a bmw motor in it, maybe in the far future, and keep the rears in the fenders but thats just me dreaming

as for the quality i am hopefully taking a welding and fabrication class next semester, so if i can get welding down, and upgrade from a broken flux core we may be seeing the build quality turn around. i love all the 02 builds on here, and if i had some time i would do some legit work, but that will most likely have to wait till summer or at least spring
for now its just a fun junker to dick around with.
that being said once i do have time it still isnt gonna be restored, if anything ill body drop it and run some stupid wheels

i dont think you guys get that this is a $250 car, if i wanted a legit 2002 i would buy a shell and swap this motor over, but this is like having a big rc car where i can do whatever i want and just re paint it or throw a new body on
