That's a real shame. I **** seeing people not take care of these cars.Originally posted by jrcanes55 View PostThey guy who owned this before him literally trashed it. It was so bad. I've never known someone to beat a car that bad and keep it for as long as he did. It's sad. I feel bad for the car.

its weird, the guy owned it since 72 but didnt take care of it, but he was a car guy enough to swap the motor and trans, and to redrill the strut tops as a custom camber adjustment, alex has a book with all his calculations and stuff.Originally posted by mtmorto View PostThat's a real shame. also he had no attachment to the car he was like "oh boy a lowball offer, ill take it"

so if i wasnt 100% sure i was redoing the paint now i am, it was a good learning experience, but today when i came outside i found these cool ripples anywhere it is too thick, they are all on the trunk where i tried to fill in the bondo cracks with paint, and also where it dripped from there but they need to go, im thinking another attempt at this color, or a nice burgundy
anyways here's the paint

also some bugs landed in it while it was wet

thats kinda the plan right now its too low to drive with the front fenders on, i really need some 13x8 et0s, but the ra's will work for nowOriginally posted by aLaFleur View PostI would slam the shit out of this thing and just drag it until it fell apart then make cool garage furniture out of it. This thing is so far gone... Just make it stupid.
not pic worthy yet, but i have started making the templates for the floors, i have 2 of the 4 done, and will be cutting out the signs and some of the worst rust tomorrow so long as its nice out.
today i did manage to toss the front fenders on temporarily, but i dont have the bolts, so they are just hanging there by sticks and shit for now

also some guy randomly came by the house today and offered me a parts car for $150 if i only had a place for it
my dad said if i help tear down the old house on our land i can put a garage there, but that wont be till winter, i just wish these good deals quit coming up.

ok so im waiting for my drill to charge so im gonna update this
not related to the car, but I did free up some funds by selling my Honda, the guy who was buying it didn’t zip tie the hood down (no hood latch) and on his test drive decided to leave my neighborhood and floor it down the main street, hood flipped up and broke the windshield, and fucked the brand new hood
last pics of it as I dropped it off at his house

so that gives me more room and money, but this may take some up some of my time, the wood behind the tiles rotted away and the tiles fell inwards, hopefully my landlord will take care of this

ive been making progress on the floors, im going hot rod style and making street sign floors, not doing the best job but they are solid.
Today I woke up and went by the store, got this stuff, that primer is the best, it beads water, and does a great job of keeping rust from spreading

i started by cutting out the worst rust, i kinda just tore it out
yes i am in slippers, it was morning at this point
I then proceeded to use cardboard and eyeballing to get the main floor pieces cut out
This is the drivers floor

I then had to bend the pieces which I did by scoring the back

this worked, but I realized that the scoring made it weak, I couldn’t bend the big pieces without scoring, so I made little strips to strengthen it

I had some other problems in the front, some of the metal that I planned to screw into was really just rust, surprise surprise, but I solved this with some more scrap sign screwed in higher up where the metal was metal.

more strips

I am now filling between the non scored shims, I know there are gaps, but I plan to cover them with tape and then bedline the underside so that the bedliner fills the little gaps

I still have a lot of work, but the hard part of the 2 worst floors is done
Only problem I see so far is these screws in the wheel well, but that’s nothing the grinder wont fix

ill update tonight and hopefully be done stay tuned

Here's the quote you were looking for C-Hutch! HahahOriginally posted by willis View PostFlat black doesn't hide anything, if anything it makes it look more cheap. Especially if it's two tone between the cream and black. Please just do the entire thing cream. It looks very nice, despite the smashed body.
The new wheels will fix alot of this car!
(My mint valve cover doesn't match anything haha. If I could do it again, I'd keep the bay burgundy, and the valve cover polished. )
