Can't get enough of this though, your attention to detail is amazing, the fitment is perfect, can't wait to see the bay, it's definitely come a long way!

If the car is going to be painted anyway, I suggest you use a hammer and dolly to get the rear lips completely flat. Strip out all the sealer with a wire wheel on a drill first though, assuming you haven't done that all ready. You should be able to get them super flat if you take your time with the hammer

Got a few things done yesterday.
The upper intake manifold and valve cover turned out great=) I love how simple they look shaved with the wrinkle black.
I got curious as to how the hardware would look.
I think I'll be leaving the washers raw instead of polishing them. I am so happy with how the motor is coming together.
The bay also started getting welded up. My friend Jeremiah ran out of gas shortly after starting so he only got a few holes tacked shut. He will hopefully be back Saturday to continue=)
I also just noticed that these pictures seem to look worse and worse. A new phone is needed and I will be picking one up shortly. A good camera is a must=D

I really don't mind the m42. It has been super reliable, gets great gas mileage, and the car is more of a cruiser. I'm really just focusing on aesthetics for the car and not worrying about making it quicker. The m42 being the size it is will also make my shaved bay look simpler.
I have been tossing the idea around of picking up a motor for the fun of building it after I get the compact back together. Then that would possibly go in, but for now the m42 keeps me satisfied.

Plus, you actually could set your mileage back to zero with a complete rebuilt engine like this!
AND parts are way cheaper than for most of the M52 engines out there
I can tell you, be excited for the first time you'll start your engine! That's a big- moment
It was amazing when we first started the Coupe after not running it for 7 months... and we didn't even do engine work, haha

Been a while since the last update.
Zero progress on the welding and rear fender work. Trying to get all that sorted out.
I am hopefully placing my order with Downstar this week for the hardware kit for my engine. I've just been sorting out what bolts will be able to use their beauty washers. Unfortunately there are three m7 bolts that they can't source because m7 is hard to come by=( I will try and figure that out.
Yesterday I reorganized and cleaned my shop spot up. I also took pictures of things with my new phone because the camera is much better=)
Enough talking, on to pics.
Here is how far the bay got the other day before running out of gas.
Hopefully this next week I quit dragging my ass and get this back in gear.

Keep up the great work man, this thing is going to be spectacular when you're finished.
It's great to see another M44 get some love.
As a matter of interest, could you share with us the list of bolts you're ordering? Feel free to keep it secretFor the M7 bolt, is it in a location where you could drill and tap an M8 thread?
If you need some inspiration, take a look at this alternator with ARP hardware.
From the wrinkle red blog if you're wondering
