  • Saturday turned out being more of a planning day than a working day.

On Wednesday I dropped my valve cover and intake manifold for my buddy to machine the lines off. He finished that up on Thursday. I was going to pick them up Saturday but ended up going home before he got to his shop.

I attempted to tackle the rear fenders. The only thing I happened to accomplish was that I destroyed one of my lug nuts=/ I'm having a local guy do my rear arches now. He is said to be a wizard so lets see how they turn out=) He is coming out this Sunday to do them.

Since I was fed up on trying to do the rear arches, I figured I would put my head on the motor......figured wrong here. I forgot to order the gasket that goes between the head and the timing case. Now I have to order that and wait for it to arrive.

I was all sorts of flustered at this point but couldn't leave the shop because the buyer for my Volkswagen beater was coming to pick it up. I ended up cleaning my part of the shop up, as well as the spot next to me while I waited. The guy who rents the spot next to me took his car home to work on right before I got to the shop. It gave me the perfect opportunity to clean his side up and get all the leaves out from fall=P

Once the Volkswagen was gone I was happy to have $600 to put back into the compact=) I'll spend some of it ordering that gasket and lug nut today.

The only other thing that I accomplished was setting up this Saturday to get my bay welded. If everything goes according to plan, this weekend will be full of progress. We will see. Things don't seem to happen as they're planned lately.

I'll leave you with some pictures I took after cleaning the shop=)

(It's aired up in the back since the fenders are unrolled)

haha Thank you. It needs a little more tweaking up front until I'm satisfied. The rear will hopefully be pulled enough to match=)

I always love when people **** compacts. I actually prefer them over the coupes and sedans. I'm glad you like this one

Thank you sir=) I love how the glovebox looks too

I did a little cleaning and painting yesterday=)

My alternator was filthy and in need of a coat of paint. After applying a whole lot of brake cleaner and wire brushing I got this:

I then applied the wrinkle black:

That was after around a half hour of curing. It fully wrinkles after a 2 hour span of time. We will see how it turned out on Saturday.

I also gave my alternator and crank pully a nice coat of paint. The tensioner pully spacer also got some love.

The gasket I need for the head should be here today so hopefully that will go on Saturday while the bay is being welded up=)

I can see the end but there is still a ways to go.

                          • Saturday was great.

My friend Kyle came over and dropped the valve cover and intake manifold off.

He also installed my head for me.

I then installed the exhaust manifold after my friend John polished the nuts.

I then painted the valve cover and intake manifold and only saw them cure for an hour. (Forgot to take any pictures of the intake manifold)

I then packed up for the night and left after midnight.

Both the bay welding and fender work are pushed off until next weekend because the welder has to work and the fender man lent his roller out and it was forgotten by his friend.

Progress is still coming steady. More to come Wednesday.

                              Is it Wednesday yet?

Can't get enough of this though, your attention to detail is amazing, the fitment is perfect, can't wait to see the bay, it's definitely come a long way!

                              • Fitment is awesome!

If the car is going to be painted anyway, I suggest you use a hammer and dolly to get the rear lips completely flat. Strip out all the sealer with a wire wheel on a drill first though, assuming you haven't done that all ready. You should be able to get them super flat if you take your time with the hammer
