well decided where I had the amp mounted was fucking retarded, so changes were made.

threw some leftover felt on it.

better, just need to find the missing trunk carpet piece

    threw these in

    and started going back together,

got tried of mismatched seats, so was able to hunt down a set and put cash in my pocket selling the others.

only thing that sucks is my crank sensor too a dump, but the new audio stuff sounds great sitting in the garage. So now I'm stuck trying to hunt one down so I can get the car moved back to my shop and get the exhaust put on.

On another note I've caught myself still being very unhappy with the car and decided I'll be making a drastic change. My goal now is to no longer buy off shelf aftermarket parts, instead buy the raw material and build it myself. Only drawback is that progress will be slow, so bare with me.

Very inspirational. I understand the DIY aspect of it.

At the end of the road, I want a one of a kind e28, that is hand built by me, with my shifty welds, with my meth head engineering, while I daily drive it. That doesn't seem too hard.

finally got time to update, needless to say work has been kicking my ass. So on top of a bad crank sensor the ECM is on the way out, so for now it's running just fine but only when the module is sitting in the glove box. Hopefully it last long enough for me to get all my supercharger and mega squirt together.

So as awesome dumped exhaust at the firewall is, its also attracts cops like crazy. That means the old exhaust goes back on, but this time tucking it up higher since it would drag before I cut it off.

First was getting it hung on the bracket at the trans and welding it up at the manifold

then cutting it to rotate the cat up and weld where the bung got broken off from dragging

Before anyone asks, the cat is still on it because its required to be there for state inspection. Doesnt have to be functional if you get my drift.

then a simple turndown was put on for now, I have special plans for the rest of the exhaust once I get parts for it

first test drive showed that it still hung too low and torn the sheild

since there are no hangers up higher I decided to make a bracket that would push the exhaust up

and attached it raised up the exhaust another 2", which now clears when the car is high centered

Next was the address the oil pan, it had already taken some hits and some how hadnt cracked yet but I knew its was only a matter of time. Now keeping up with making my parts I didn't want to go with some flemsy online ordered skid plate, I wanted to make something that would support the weight of the car to slide over anything without bending, so 1/4 steel was the plan.

so out came the plasma cutter to get the shape of the plate going.

found some scrap steel that was already bent to the angle I wanted, so I just welded it on. The first bolt was attached to the cross member and then recessed in after the photo was taken.

and the front got two bolts through the lower core support, I may end up adding some steel tubing across that would take more of the weight of the car.

and done! on drawback is that it made my ground clearance even lower.

        but works great!

and cleaned up and back home

also found one center cap in the parts room, rumor is there is a full set that I'll have to dig for. Till next time.

I'll have an update next week as I'll be getting the car ready for its baseline dyno pull, but figured some creative ideas when I have to deal with those over priced BMW specialty tools.

first was the expensive press tool for separating the getrag 260 case, they only way it will come apart is if you press it directly on the input shaft. So a trip to the hardware store I got a flange, pipe, and reducer then just drilled out the flange so I could mount it on exactly where the specialty tool goes and got my pulley puller and press it right out with no problem. Total cost was $20.

next was servicing another getrag 260 and needing the 17mm hex tool, $30 tool ordered online. Instead .15 cents for a 17mm head bolt and two locked nuts that I welded on for good measure.

so for change in the pocket I now have two tools to add to my growing box, means more money for sherman.
