    ....and done and running!

I will said the exhaust will have to be next because the car is stooooooooopid loud. I also has to recut the springs because that extra coil i cut ended up being too much, within the first 20ft I high centered the car on a peak and ripped the lip off on the first dip. SO bags will be ordered this summer.

so little set back. so started off with finishing hooking up the last bit of wiring and hoses. first test showed several fuel leaks from reusing o-rings so those got replaced. Then next was tightening a few coolant hoses THEN THE BIG MOMENT! with fingers crossed and deep breath taken I turned the key and..... nothing. After some testing learned my starter was toast probably from all the cranking that had to be done when he had poor compression. So not to accept defeat it was time to push it.

seemed like he wanted to start but was getting no where and ended up flooding the engine.

so while I'm stuck waiting it was time to do something with the height that I was never fully happy with.

so the suspension came back off and with them being already cut I was able to just impact it off without loosing a hand.

    then another coil was removed

    and reassembled

    then back on the car

    much better!

once again has rake, which the rears will be address tomorrow

now don't this setup isn't staying long, plans are this summer to get the bags on the car once is running right... but that's just later down the road.

So what time tomorrow are we firing this thing up?

Because I get off work at 6.

We need to swap out the Crank sensor in the Scirocco soon too.

loads of progress, mad I couldnt get to the parts store to get the last few things needed.

so after constantly loosing lift time I score a place... what I hope will be my new place of employment since the owner seems fairly impressed with my work!

so got is loaded on the roll back and moved from my garage to about 1/2 a mile down the street.

and sat for the night waiting.

next was picking up the engine from the machine shop where I had been building it, had to say it was a little nerve wrecking to just have it back there afraid it was going to break free

    and back together again

next was mounting the clutch on, it had a little life left and since I know I'll be pulling the trans apart soon I was comfortable to reusing it.

it was very hard to strap such a nasty trans to such a clean engine, but as mention it will be back out very soon.

also need to to invest in a leveling bar, makes like so much easier when trying to put it in with the trans mounted.

but after a little work it was in, managed to not damage the firewall too.

my new exhaust was removed to be scrapped for a new one next week

in no time had the bottom all done, never put a drive shaft in on a 4 post and wouldn't recommend it since all 4 tires are on the ground

started on the tops and realized the filter may of been a little too big

    a wee bit...

oh well just tiled it down for now.

looking more like an engine bay

got everything hooked up minus the power steering and a few connections, so thurs I'll finish that off and get fluid in it

    till then

not much of updates since I've been tied up with life, but I finally got lift time at a buddy's garage so I'll be doing the engine install that day. So I went ahead and clean and painted the alternator and power steering pump along with making brackets for the air vane.

also removed the volvo lip and front facia to beat out some dents along with heating and shaping the lip to fit better.

better updates coming up this week and only 13 days left till the car show!

got around and go the header wrap put on. Also got the vacuum lines this time tucking them in so its more of a accent vs ricer-istic, along with coolant lines and painted the air vain.

Thurs I hope to get the alt and PS pump done along with making brackets for the air filter/air vane.

17x9.5, they need a lot of work to get to fit at least a 2" spacer.

BUT, did get some 225/45 mounted.

the front was hitting the strut before I could even get the lug bolts to thread, rears were not as bad but still what hitting the strut.

good chance I'll just set them aside till I get the bags on and see where I'm at before orderings spacers, so it will be 16's for a while which I picked up cheap tires tonight.

for now I'm waiting on rocker shaft plugs and a day open to haul the car back to the shop to put on the lift.

    good progress tonight!

first off I got a set of these....

test fitting them tomorrow, but not dead set of actually rocking them since they detour away from the original plan.

also snagged a new air filer, need to make a new bracket for everything though so the maf doesn't damaged the valve cover.

figured if it was good enough for a f40 or topless integera then its good enough for sherman

anyways installed the new timing guides that came in yesterday, pretty straight forward

got the intake rockers installed the other day, so it was time to finish them off

and after picking up some dry ice and shrinking the shafts is was a breeze to get them in

all done! nice know that I have a rebuilt head that should be good for another 400k

had to adjust valve lashing since its much easier IMO like this. I've done this so many times now that I can finally do it by feel

knocked out the head install, timing chain and water pump with a quickness

lower cover and and starting to look better

and holy hell it looks like and engine again!

I have decided the maf and alternator are going to bother me, so they will get cleaned and painted next time I'm working on it. I'm starting to get behind and plan on now trying to get the engine and trans in next weekend, it's trying to find this fine line of rushing to get it done but paying attention to details.
