Very much enjoyed reading through your whole thread this morning. It truely is an excellent project and you can see how your skills have also improved as the build has gone on.
I look forward to further updates!
P.S. One question - I was surprised you didn't get the suspension parts powder coated before fitting the new bushes?

I have not. I called them a few days ago to see what the deal was and they hadn't shipped one out yet. The lady said she'd ship one out ASAP so hopefully it's on the way.Originally posted by SheaMoose View PostNice man!
Have you gotten your welder back yet?
haha thanks manOriginally posted by BMW BRAD View PostI think I may have said this in an earlier post, but...... "You got MADSKILLZ bro!" Keep up the amazing work!
Yeah I spent like 1-2 hours per wheel, took forever. Never letting that happen again haha. I wanna see these Gotti's!Originally posted by montgomery View PostI'm honestly doing the same on a set of gottis for my 02. I have 3 of th 4 done but it takes forever. I have been just sitting in my living room and watching a movie per wheel and going at it with a file. Now I know for next time though.

That reminds me, I forgot to mention another reason why the refinish took so long. With powdercoat being so thick, when I got them back, the lips didn't fit on the faces anymore. I spent hours with a very thin chisel slowly chipping away the powdercoat on the sides of the faces and the inner parts of the lips so they would fit. I had to be cautious not to chisel too high or it would show with the lips on. That took forever, and I had to be super careful, glad that's over!

Thanks Andrew, it's a great feeling.Originally posted by Rally View PostCongrats on getting the car into the new shop! I know you've been eager to get it in there.
Yep, it fit perfect with the double wrap. The powder coaters purposely put a pretty light coat on the bolt heads so the socket would still fit, as powder coat is quite thick.Originally posted by TeckniX View Postdouble plastic bag on each bolt, and the socket still worked?
Wheels are sexy for sure!

Actually I'm usually not really a fan of black wheels either. I was pretty nervous to do the RM's in all satin black, but now I'm super happy that I did. Also I think it's kind of a refreshing change from normal colored faces and polished lips.Originally posted by Minuki View PostI'm never usually a fan of black wheels, but there's something about those that look soo good!Last edited by CubbyChowder; 09-19-2013, 01:23 PM.
